Stasera ho rincontrato la mia ex maestra di canto e mi ha riproposto di entrare nel suo coro, dico me l'ha riproposto perché me lo disse anche la scorsa volta in estate quando la salutai dopo un suo concerto al curvone, stavolta ci sto pensando seriamente e una voce dentro me sta urlando: ma se continui a ripeterti sempre che il tuo più grande rimpianto è aver lasciato la scuola di musica alle medie e non aver più ripreso e allora perché non cogli subito l'occasione che ti è stata concessa per ben due volte?! Ma mi faccio frenare dalla paura di non essere abbastanza, di fare "schifo" rispetto al resto del coro (alcune le ho sentite cantare al karaoke ai giardinetti quest'estate ed hanno una voce potente) ma dall'altro lato sarebbe una bella esperienza quella di far parte di un coro un po' come in Sister Act o come nella puntata di Josephine dedicata alla Corale degli Angeli
Al di là di questa proposta sono davvero sorpresa e contenta che sia stata lei a riconoscermi e a salutarmi con il suo solito affetto sembrava come se non fosse passato neanche un giorno da quando ci siamo viste l'ultima volta e addirittura sembrava di essere tornata quella bambina timida ma canterina che la guardava suonare al pianoforte solo per me durante una delle lezioni e ridere insieme tra una prova e l'altra mentre registravamo sulla pennetta usb le tracce per le esercitazioni a casa, sono dei ricordi importantissimi per me che tengo stretti nel cuore
I started listening to OperaVisions "Opera Roadtrip" podcast and learned something kinda interesting: So you know how male conductors are often called "maestro" as a sign of respect? Danila Grassi, the female conductor they interviewed, says that she often gets asked by the people whom she's going to conduct if she wants to be called maestro or maestra, and she says it's a very difficult decision that shapes how people will see you. She's Italian herself and while maestro and maestra both mean "master/mistress", maestro is a traditional thing to call a conductor (still a very male-dominated profession) whereas maestra is mostly used for female elementary school teachers. So she has to decide between a sign of respect that isn't meant for her gender and a gender-appropriate form that makes her seems like someone who only has authority over little children. So she says she accepts both and hopes the meaning of "maestra" will change and widen over the next decades.
