THIS IS FRYING MEEE “yeah he met virgil (awesome, sexy, totally obsessed with) and his boyfriend i think his name was whore ass?”
We haven't heard from you in a while princeps, how's it going?
your petition has been considered, and it shall be answered.
it goes quite well, citizen. not perfectly, for no mortal can hope to achieve that, yet i feel i have reached nearly the same state.
julia has such a bright little mind, even if she is already showing herself to have quite the temper. lovely dido grows fierce and strong. maecenas and wonderful agrippa remain as loyal as ever. yes, life is sometimes good.
Not that anyone asked but I actually do feel bad for Maecenas in a way because, yeah, he was rich and successful and good at his job. But he was a poet, a poet who has so few surviving works. And what we do have? Well, it isn’t great.
But, like, imagine you spend your entire career helping your friend rise to power. You don’t want the power or importance of him or your other friend- it’s too much of a hassle and not what you want, anyway. What you want is to write and be great at writing. You’re amongst the writers who created works that led to a golden age of literature, you’re practically their leader. But you aren’t very good at what you want to be great at, not in comparison, and, thus, you live on the edge of oblivion- being both key to history and, yet, unseen, unnoticed, because you were good at your job, just not what you really wanted to do.
