Last weekend (April 25-27), I was with the #MadTVPH team in Boracay to cover the hottest event this summer — Century Superbods 2014. It was really fun and a tiring coverage for us since 5 of the #MadTVPH crew flew in (Raj, Rocky, Rob, and Karl) together with out 2 hosts: David Guison and Ana Gonzales.
David, Ana, Rocky, Rob, and Karl flew in first for the Super Race. Our hosts was supposedly part of the race, but due to logistics problem we agreed that they’ll do commentary of what they’re seeing na lang. (You can watch #MadTVPH’s Century Tuna Superbods episode here.)
Our PAL flight going to Caticlan was delayed for an hour, and my fear of flying came abruptly when I saw the plane that we’re going to use. It’s a 30-seater plane and I’ve never been inside of this kind of plane in about 5 years, and the last time was quite horrifying.
But it was a smooth 45-minute flight, mostly because John Lloyd Cruz was on the same flight to Boracay.
The island is still the same, beautiful and attractive even if commercialism has grown too much. But who am I to complain? More foot traffic means increase in tourism profit for the country.
What makes me sad is the presence of green algae in the clear waters of Boracay.
So when we’re at Station 2, we always swim at the beach front of the Elizalde’s.
In our busy schedule of shoots for #MadTVPH, we sneaked in a trip to Puka beach with our hosts. To appreciate the island without the busy traffic of people.
Puka beach is at the northernmost point of the Boracay island. Unlike the more popular beach front (Stations 1-3), the sand is not that fine at the said beach because of the abundance of remnants of puka shells, hence the name. But, I enjoyed it more! You can go to Puka Beach via trike ride from D’Mall for only Php 150 or Php 35/person.
Of course a trip to Boracay wouldn’t be complete without watching the beautiful sunset view at the island.
