up until the other had approached within the room, madotsuki had made herself busy slashing a kitchen knife through the belly of a big orange pumpkin that was nearly too big for her to carry. gooey, stinky guts spilled all over the counter and floor as she worked on hallowing the berry to later decorate and keep on her balcony.
something about the exclamation, however… drew her to a halt, looking down to her “victim” as the blade remained lodged in the flesh. oh… that was too familiar of a sensation. removing the knife, hands shaking, she dropped the weapon onto the counter top and backed away, rubbing her hands together and taking a sharp breath.
❥ “Guts. Pumkin guts” she repeated, not catching onto the effect her words had on her friend right away. She didn’t really know what else to call the insides of a pumkin- her parents weren’t into the western traditions of halloween. The seeds and pumkin bits that were spilled all over the counter bothered her. It was out of place, unplanned. Just as was Madotsuki’s reaction to her words. She had expected irritation, and it was not what she had gotten.
She couldn’t understand. But she wanted to. As a friend she should be able to fix this like a real person could. She took the knife into her right hand, wondering if that was somehow the source of Madotsuki’s sudden change in attitude.
“You’re acting different. What’s wrong?”
