Today was a JAM GOOD DAY! πππππππ So glad to be back in the kitchen! It calms my soul like nothing else, to stir my pots of jam. Thereβs a rhythm that occurs naturally and it never matters how long Iβve been away, the cadence comes back like the beat of a favorite song. Prepare and measure out the fruit, get the pots going, add the sugar, stir, stir and stir some more, stir a bit more, test, stir, test, stir, stir, just about right, set up the canning station, spoons, spatulas, funnels, jars, lids... start pouring, clean drips from the rims, put lids on, gingerly lower jars into the madly boiling water of the canner... set a timer, clean pots, retrieve jars from the canner and line them up like jewels in a crown, REPEAT! Iβve faced lots of ups and downs this year, we all have, but having the constant of jam has been my true and saving grace. Routine is comforting and stabilizing for me.
