Well, that'd be reasonable. But I also hate its usage in fandom, because there's something about it that seems really affected. 'Women' is a perfectly good word, and we don't go around calling male characters 'gentlemen' because that'd look fucking stupid. Plus, IRL, I'm used to seeing/hearing the word 'lady' a condescending context. I find it as irritating as when people use the word 'girls' to refer to a group of adults.
'Lady/ladies' is kind of like the word 'feels'. It probably wouldn't bother me if it wasn't so prevalent, but I'm sick of it due to over-exposure.
