Macy's, Solano Mall, Fairfield, CA [1980s]
This mall has had a few different names over the years. Now it's called the Solano Town Center, but it used to be called the Westfield Solano, the Solano Mall, or just the Fairfield Mall because of the city it's located in. The Macy's is still there.

For my last and final study tour, we had the opportunity to visit the 51st annual Macy's flower show, which is only displayed between the period of April 23 and May 10, so we were really lucky to be able to view it within that short period. This Flower Show is displayed annually, and for this year's theme, Macy's featured the "Homegrown" landscapes of the United States. The flagship store in Heralds Square transforms this department store with thousands of flowers, plants, and trees, and builds a completely new and immersive experience. One of my favorite displays had the flower native to Ohio (the carnation), and an owl on top of a birdhouse, which was reminiscent of our sorority's emblem.
On the second floor, we first walked through the amazing LEGO installation with themed flower sets and builds. We finally walked through Valentino's immersive floral perfume sampling experience. Each room was colored and represented a different perfume from the collection. The perfume consultants were very knowledgeable and told a story with how they explained each perfume, and the notes that went along with it. I think, honestly, my favorite perfume was this musky men's perfume, and the perfume specialist told me to pair it with this more floral perfume. The combination was probably my favorite Valentino combination.
Finally, we headed over to Urban Outfitters' flagship store, which, from the expansion into the vintage market, UO has capitalized on and found its own niche within this store's very own second-hand and vintage collections. Walking around, even if some of the prices were higher than I'd normally seen in locally owned second-hand stores, the quality of the garments was in great condition. I had a really enjoyable time sifting through their curated sections. I also only expected them to have second-hand from UO, Anthropologie, and Free People, but was surprised to see many other well-known brands not affiliated with their brands. I ended up even purchasing 2 blazers that fit me like a glove. I was really impressed. I think if I could recommend anything for that space would be to include dressing rooms. I understand there's a large assortment, but I think it would improve many people's shopping experiences. I'm sad to say this is my last study tour, but we left on a very sweet note.
