I expressed myself VERY briefly on Twitter about the Hungarian GP and the Netherlands in August. Here I want to post my full thoughts that I dumped on my friend right after the race :)
So! The Astons took P13-P14. Alonso P14. They did rise after a PARTIAL upgrade package. After the break, the guys will install a FULL package. Their results are clearly going to be very good. Maybe they'll even be able to haunt the Junior Bulls.
Lando won. His gap to Max was over 14 seconds in the end. Red Bull gave Max a challenge – "hold P2 with Luce and Kiwi on your tail, while rolling on soft tyres for 20-odd laps". He slogged 28 laps on them... And they were used ones too! They'd already done 3 laps on them before. And somehow, by some magic, he managed to hold the position. At one point, Kimi closed the gap to 4 seconds, and there were still about 9 laps to go. Softs, by the way, aren't meant for that many laps at all. And I'm sure it was a deliberate jab from the team! They literally told him at that moment: "Looking good! All good, it'll be fun at the end)". It was. They definitely had a strategy and its name was Max Verstappen. (Actually, the strategists really did a good job, but I just love joking about it too much.)
And also Toto with the button. Poor Piastri got rammed again. He ended up retiring because the car just stalled. And Luce got a penalty AGAIN, FFS. 5 PENALTIES IN 3 RACES! Let's hope Ferrari will appeal them. He needs points! He's second behind Kimi for the championship!!!! They have only a 50-point gap (after this race). He has a real chance to bag his 8th title + do it at Ferrari (a separate fucking quest, Charles will confirm).
Conclusion: let's hope that Ferrari starts pushing Ham forward (I love Charles, but this is cold calculation). Maybe the Bulls will wake up from hibernation and finally deliver a normal result (flashbacks to '25...). At least a pattern is emerging – in Belgium Max was P3, in Hungary – P2. So on home soil – in the Netherlands – he should take his first P1 this season!!!! 🛐✨🤲🙏🥲
