many years ago i really wanted to make a mabu skylander fan character, so i drew one hastily in my sketchbook with plans to finish them later. then i got preoccupied with other art and sorta forgot. then, after finishing that sketchbook and moving to another, i refound the sketch while looking back through the pages. so i got to work on developing the character and finishing the art!
so... say hello to quarters! they're one of many skylanders fan characters i'd like to make :) i have one for each element planned out and i'm really excited about it!
his bio is below the cut, but also available on toyhouse and artfight!
Name: Quarters
Species: Mabu
Pronouns: he/they
Element: Dark
Fighting Style & Attacks: Melee; Crescent Cut (main attack, swiping with his claws)
Backstory: Quarters hailed from the land of Fortune Fields, a small town rumored to bestow luck upon its inhabitants with a special gem called the Gild Luck Charm. Back then, Quarters looked like a regular Mabu, but to others, he was anything but regular. He always had his nose buried in a book, rarely acknowledging the other Mabu in his home with more than a few words. This made the other Mabu very scared and suspicious of them. Deep down, Quarters truly did care about everyone and saw them as friends, but struggled to express themself the same way as everyone else. He was also very interested in his books, which were all about elemental magic. More specifically, Dark elemental magic.
One day, Kaos decided to visit Fortune Fields in search of the Gild Luck Charm, hoping that his charming personality would convince the Mabu to hand it over. When the townsfolk started booing him instead, he threatened to use powerful Dark magic against them. The Mabu began to panic and run away, only to be trapped by Kaos' forces. Quarters, educated on this particular spell and unafraid of Kaos' threats, jumped in the way of the spell just in the nick of time. When the dust settled, Quarters found that they had been changed by the spell into a Mabu with powerful Dark magic. He proceeded to use this magic to chase Kaos and his forces away, thwarting Kaos' plans and saving the town.
All of the Mabu felt indebted to Quarters, and apologized for being scared of him. Quarters shrugged it off and forgave everyone, thankful that they were all safe. After the town celebrated his victory against Kaos, he decided to leave his hometown, believing that his newfound powers were needed elsewhere. They journeyed to Skylanders Academy and asked to be trained, and were immediately accepted. Now a full-time Skylander, Quarters spends most of their time hunting down evil... but always finds the time to stop and read a good book!
Trivia:
He is autistic, and has a special interest in magic as a whole. They were very fixated on Dark and Light due to their recent reemergence, but felt drawn to Dark especially
They usually speak in very short sentences, feeling overwhelmed and anxious when forced to speak for long periods of time
He still visits Fortune Fields on occassion, happy to be on good terms with the other Mabu there and never holding their past judgement against them. Besides, the library there is full of too many interesting books to avoid going back!

Long ago, Bouncer was an All-Star Roboto-Ball player. But when the Arkeyan Empire destroyed his home town and discontinued the games, he was converted into a security-bot and stationed in the mines. It was there that Bouncer encountered dozens of Mabu prisoners who remembered him fondly from his playing days. He quickly became a bit of a celebrity around the mines, and it wasn't long before this new adulation convinced him that he could be just as much of a hero in life as he was on the field. Thus, he decided to join the Skylanders and take a stand against the evil, Arkeyan overlords.
