being with dabi and knowing him so intimately must be such a privilege. in a real just world, after the war’s over, he miraculously survives from his injuries and ends up being able to be rehabilitated physically from all the pain that was inflicted on him. mentally, he’s getting better as time goes on, but it’s an uphill battle.

how you meet him is truly a combination of both fate and consideration. perhaps you’ve known of his exploits and his “work” before the war, but nothing matches up to how it actually feels to meet him in person, and to truly get to know him, and to become closer to him after all that had went down.

his family comes to visit him almost every day, and you can see in his eyes how he mourns the life he never had while resenting the factors that lead to his present day circumstances. and none of it was really his fault, truly, and him hearing those words verbalised to him clear as day sets something alight inside his mind, heart and soul. he suddenly decides he yearns intimacy despite pushing it away so often to shield himself from the pain.
