GODSLAYER: politics, a wip worldbuilding powerpoint

welcome to the world of my dark science fantasy wip, godslayer!! it is very much an unpolished idea-in-progress, so a lot of things are subject to change as i actually figure out the plot. it's all very vague at this point, but it's going to heavily feature lesbians, biblical angels, cosmic horror, enemies to lovers, and Space ;)

THEWRITEBLRGARDEN'S GARDEN WALK ; worldbuilding

lyndwoode house ; the ancestral estate of the lyndwoode family, renowned far and wide for their musical prowess. local legend states they were bards in the time of æthelstan's court, though they were not granted land and titles till the 16th century. the original house burned down some time two centuries later, under mysterious circumstances, and was rebuilt by marshall lyndwoode, grandfather of the current family head, sir callum lyndwoode.

WTW PLANET PROMPTS - VENUS: POLITICS - godslayer

The Exarchy is an interstellar theocratic empire ruling over the vast expanse of the Ecumene. Being the largest and most powerful political entity in the known space, it is the ultimate authority for the majority of humankind. Following the angels' assault on humanity, the Church gained unparalleled political power, with the Inquisition assuming the dual roles of defense against cosmic threats and maintaining social order. The Holy Synod, governing both the Church and the Inquisition, holds absolute authority over the Exarchy, while the Exarch serves largely ceremonial roles. Entrusted with the ultimate fate of humanity, the Synod determines the course of affairs in its struggle for survival. However, maintaining a centralized government over interstellar distances is impossible, even with faster-than-light travel and communication. This has resulted in a neo-feudal structure within the Exarchy, where the noble dynasties of the Great Houses are responsible for various functions of the empire. Headed by the seven Archons, these Great Houses comprise the Synkletos, the senate of the Exarchy. This body carries out the day-to-day decisions required to govern the Exarchy according to the Synod’s will.

The Old Gods are dead. They have abandoned this world and ascended to a higher realm of existence beyond the comprehension of man and monster. Yet still, their traces remain. How can you say the moon does not know your name when you whisper prayers to it every night? How can you say you've conquered death as the Dornenheit ravages the whole of Falkenreik?

Few are still widely worshiped in the eight centuries since the advent of the Helemar and their healing miracles, and their church has worked to bury the mysteries of extant cults. The Old Gods have abandoned this world. Yet still, the truth can never die.

Aleksander Fox's chance at unending fortune comes when he steals and sells the feathered cloak of the Swan Prince. It falls into the hands of Vératre, an assassin hired to kill the head of the Helemere Church, all while working against a painful ghost from her past.

In the world of Mordlust, though teeming with all manner of strange beast and ancient magic, oftentimes the most dangerous breed is humanity and the religious fervor it thrives off. In the year 763, a naif, young Helemar is born to a handler that has managed to twist the threads of fate in his favor.

cardinal archbishop faramund ; minister to the king and a member of his privy council. he has spent more than half his life within the church in service to the savior. arguably the most powerful man in the kingdom, he knows well to keep the criminal underground and the press in his pockets.
