he can’t cook, which kind of destroys his whole ‘surprise breakfast in bed’ plan. which is why, before gwen has a chance to wake up, pete’s already gone to and come back from the local bagel place. hair is still a little bit of a mess when he closes the door behind him with his hip, balancing coffees in one hand and bagels in the other, but he’s setting the coffee down on the table before pressing a light kiss to the girl’s forehead. offers a soft, “hey, there’s coffee when you’re ready.” he’ll let her sleep if she seems she needs it, but also he doesn’t want to let her food get cold. 

it’s been awhile since they’ve met up as who they are -- outside their ‘jobs’. peter’s awkward on a good day, but he doesn’t know how to handle this situation. he loves felicia, he’ll always love felicia, but that doesn’t mean things between them will be able to look past their differences in what’s “right” and what’s “wrong”. but tonight, tonight they can be who they were at the start, a friendly dinner between people -- not between thief and hero, but peter and felicia. and true, they could’ve just met at the restaurant, but instead they meet at an arranged place to walk together, the setting sun reflecting off the city and they’ve fallen into an easy silence when peter feels felicia’s hand in his, fingers fitting in the spaces between his like they always have. and though surprised momentarily, a smile turns the corners of his lips. if they could be like this all the time, things would be ... so good.

“i’m just saying, i really don’t think that’s such a good a idea...”

“okay, let’s pretend for a second that what you’re saying is even remotely possible, which it isn’t, have you even considered what would happen?”

“man, i could really go for a pizza right now. you in?”

has he been sleeping? well, no. also he may not have had a decent meal in like... 48 hours. or something. and yeah, okay, maybe he’s flat broke and passed out on a roof last night because he doesn’t have a bed at the moment, but that’s not the point at all. he’s been doing spider-man things in the small amount of free time he’s had from his internship here at MI6, an internship that itself requires a lot of time and dedication, so it shouldn’t surprise pete that the other has picked up on his lack of focus today. still, he gives q a bright smile, waving off the concern with a laugh and a hand through his hair. “it’s good. i’m good. just, uh -- you know, still jet lagged, i think. probably just need more coffee.”
