βLyrasonβs age gap is so weird. Grayson should not be going for a 19 year old as a 22 year old. Thatβs perverted!β

LYRA:
Lyra wasnβt going to bring up the fight from last night. She wasnβt.
It was done, and she wasnβt going to bring it up again, now that theyβd slept it off and were getting ready to leave for Acaciaβs house.
β¦But still.
The fight wasnβt exactly resolved, not really. Just dropped. But Lyra wanted to resolve it.
The fight was, at least to Lyra, Graysonβs work. Grayson had to put on more hours, something he claimed was temporary. But Lyra had confronted him a couple days ago, saying he needed to adjust his hours because she was seeing him less and less.
But the problem to Lyra wasnβt the fact that he did it; it was how he did it, making it out to be a chore.
Like Lyra asking him to spend less time at his dumb work so that he can remember she still exists is a chore.
Lyra was still upset about that, and it arose again one day at dinner.
Grayson had asked Lyra what she wanted to eat; Lyra said steak, whereas Grayson said he felt like eating fish. But they had been eating fish a lot that week, so Lyra asked him to get steak instead. Grayson obliged.
He came back from the store with fish.
He apologized, said that that was the last day of their fish for dinner streak, and started to prepare it.
But Lyra was still upset. She didnβt even know if it was about the steak, or the fact that he had made reducing hours to spend more time with her such a chore.
And naturally⦠they got in a fight.
But because of the βstupidityβ of the argument (what that asshole referred to it as), it was dropped.
Not resolved.
βSo, about what we were talking about last nightβ¦β Lyra trailed off, unable to hold herself back from bringing it up any longer. Grayson gave her a look from where he was adjusting his tie.
βYou mean me buying fish instead of steak and it creating a whole argument?β Grayson replied. Lyra shot him a glare.
βSure, asshole. Itβs all about the fish.β Lyra said, her voice sarcastic. Grayson turned to her.
βThen whatβs it about?β Grayson asked. Lyra rolled her eyes.
βForget it.β
βNo, Lyra. Why were you upset at me if not for the fish?β he repeated. Lyra looked back at him, looking annoyed.
βYou should know.β she grumbled. Grayson blinked at her.
βWellβ¦ I donβt.β Grayson said, the words slow as if he were confused. Lyra scoffed, turning away.
βSweetheart,β Grayson sighed. βPlease talk to me.β
Lyraβs heart raced at that one word, sweetheart, but she wouldnβt let it affect her. βYour hours.β she gritted out.
βI reduced my hours. You asked me to, remember?β Grayson said. Lyra scoffed.
βYeah, I remember asking. I also remember you treating it as if it were an absolute chore.β Lyra said, shooting him a glare. βIβm deeply sorry for requesting that you stop living at your job so that I can see you once in a while, but I understand why thatβs such a burden.β
Her words were thick with sarcasmβand venom. Grayson shut his eyes for a moment, before opening them again.
βOkay. I understand that. Iβm sorry, Lyra.β he said.
Lyra was taken aback.
Sheβd expected a fight. Sheβd expected a roll of his eyes, a sharp comment, a quick defense.
Well⦠Lyra just expected him to act like she would.
But he didnβt. Just a quick apology, short but true.
Why did it make her even angrier?
βOkay.β Lyra said, finally. βThanks.β
βSo, youβre okay now?β Grayson asked.
Nope. She was back to being mad at him.
She was okay now? Like he wasnβt in the wrong for what he did, simply for how it affected her?
βSure,β Lyra said, annoyed again. βIβm splendid.β
Grayson looked at her, confusion in his eyes again. βIβmβ¦ glad.β
βI am too.β
βGood.β
βGreat.β
βPerfect?β Grayson attempted, staring at Lyra like she was a snake, ready to attack. She stared at him back, before stomping away.
βAsshole.β
GRAYSON:
The car ride to Acaciaβs was silent. Lyra wouldnβt even looked at him; she had her body fully turned away from Grayson, her arms crossed as well as her legs and her gaze stuck on the window.
Grayson wanted to tell her to uncross her legs, because it was unsafe to cross them in a car, but he knew that that would just result in a snide comment and a glare sent his way.
Butβ¦ she was mad at him anyway. He didnβt care if she glared so long as she was safe.
βLyraββ
ββUncross your legs because itβs not safe to do so in a car?ββ Lyra mocked, already knowing what he was going to say. She turned away from him more. βNo.β
Grayson couldnβt help but smile; there was nothing funny about an angry Lyra, but a petty Lyra? Heβd never seen her look more attractive than when she was glaring holes into him and rolling her eyes at every word that came out of her mouth.
Riling Lyra up more could be dangerous, but sometimes Grayson liked to toe the line.
βYou still craving steak?β Grayson asked, his hand moving onto her thigh with feather light brushes. Lyra scoffed, but didnβt push his hand away.
βYou still craving fish?β Lyra mocked, looking sick at just the mention of fish. Grayson had to agree with her; after 3 straight days, heβd come to terms with the fact that enough was enough.
βSurprisingly, no.β
βThat is surprising. I thought we were going to be eating fish in all itβs different forms till the day I die; grilled, fried, barbecued, pureed, sautΓ©edββ
βHold on. Pureed?β Grayson asked, cutting in with a smile on his face.
βDonβt interrupt me.β
Graysonβs smile grew.
Lyra went on to list fish in increasingly more disgusting forms, Grayson listening tentatively. Once she finally ran out of forms she could list off the top of her head, Lyra sighed and spoke.
βI pity your sisters. They do not want to see us in this state.β Lyra grumbled, finally done with her fish-forms rant. Grayson smiled, before speaking himself.
βYou know, I actually cannot wait to get to my sisters house. Once they hear this argument, they will think itβs the dumbest thing yet. I know Iβm in the wrong for the hours, I can see the glares youβre sending my way, sweetheart, but the whole βfish-versus-steakβ thing?β Grayson said, laughing. βTheyβre not going to see how they can pick sides.β
βThis is your fault.β
βWhat?β Grayson asked, turning to Savannah with a confused look on his face. Lyra was getting ushered into the living room by Acacia, but Gigi and Savannah were standing by him.
βSheβs tense! Youβre tense! This can only mean one thing; our Gray-bear got into an argument.β Gigi said, a mock frown on her face. Graysonβs eyes narrowed at the two girls.
βNo, we didnβt. And donβt call me that.β Grayson deadpanned. Savannah snorted.
βWhatever. Just know that whatever argument you two got intoβ¦β Savannah said, trailing off as her hand gestured from Lyra to Grayson.
βIt is most-likely-99%-sure-to-be your fault!β Gigi finished, her smile sincere despite the harshness of her words. Gigi laid a hand on Graysonβs arm. βBut donβt worry. The argumentβwhatever it may be, and whatever it was aboutβwill definitely not come up.β
βSo what were you and Lyra arguing about?β
The voice that asked that was Britishβand annoying. Grayson gave Rohan a sharp glareβthe same Rohan who shouldnβt have even been at the house, in the living room, chatting away with Acacia as he was only here to pick something upβas he spoke.
βWhat are you talking about?β Grayson said, his tone nothing short of threatening. Acacia shot him a look.
βGrayson,β she warned. Then she looked at Rohan. βAnd you too, Rohan! I love you like a son, but you better not stir up drama or I swearββ
βThere will be dire consequences, I know. I love you like a mother, Acacia, and I am quite aware of your wrath.β Rohan interrupted, striding forward and pressing a kiss to Acaciaβs hand from where she was sitting on the chair. Grayson tensed, and Lyra snorted from her spot beside Grayson. Savannah looked at Lyra and Grayson with a hint of rebellion in her eyes.
βI donβt believe that Rohan is stirring up drama,β Savannah said, that same Rohan in question going back to his spot on the sofa beside Savannah and slinging an arm over her shoulder. Grayson narrowed his eyes at him, that movement being enough to tick him off.
βAnd if he is,β Savannah continued, βthen so what? Every good family gathering has drama. And itβs obvious that you two fought about something, soβ¦ what?β Lyra looked at Grayson just as he did to her. She seemed to be communicating a warning to him, and Grayson heeded Lyraβs warning very well. Rohan snickered.
βSavannah, your wit is my second favourite thing about you.β Rohan said. Savannah raised a brow.
βWhatβs the first?β
βYour right hook.β
βYou know, saying βher smileβ couldβve worked too.β Gigi sighed. Savannah grinned.
βSo, the story?β she asked Lyra.
βSavannah!β Acacia hissed. βLyra is our guest. We are not going to make her feel uncomfortable.β Lyra smiled, despite it being slightly fake.
βItβs fine, Acacia.β Lyra said. Then, patting her lap, she sighed and continued. βBesides, she has a point. Every family gathering does need drama.β Gigi whooped from her spot on the floor beside Acaciaβs chair, and Rohan cackled. Grayson, however, was much less thrilled.
His gaze went to Lyraβs with lightning speed, and he could tell that this was just another one of her punishments.
Graysonβs eyes conveyed the words, let it go, Lyra.
Lyraβs eyes, however, seemed to say make me.
Damn it. She couldnβt be this beautiful, and at the same time, this cruel. It messed with Graysonβs brain.
βWell,β Lyra started, getting into her story-telling voice that Grayson found she used a lot both when she was telling work gossip, and when she was reading bed time stories to her little brother, βit all started when I found that Grayson was working more than usual.β
Lyra proceeded to explain the entire argument, front to back.
How Grayson cut back on hours, but made it seem like, what Lyra called it, a chore.
How that feeling of being overlooked lingered, and how that caused the whole steak vs fish argument.
How that argument fizzled into another as Lyra explained that when she was arguing about the fish and steak, she had Graysonβs hours and how he behaved while reducing them in mind.
And by the end of it, the entire room was giving him⦠less than appreciative looks.
βItβs a complicated situation.β Lyra said at the end, laughing. Rohan snorted.
βNo itβs not. Heβs an ass.β Rohan laughed. Graysonβs eyes flashed.
βWhy are you still here?β Grayson snapped.
βCool it, brother-in-law.β
βIβm not your brother-in-law.β
Rohan made a point of holding Savannahβs hand in his, thumb grazing over her ring finger. βYet.β
Grayson jumped to his feet just as Rohan jumped to his, except Grayson was wearing a deathly cold expression and Rohan was laughing.
βOkay, okay, Iβm going.β he said, smirking. Then he bent down to give Savannah a kiss, and it drew on for longer than it should have. Well, by Graysonβs definition, the amount of time the kiss in question should have drawn on for was 0 seconds, as he never should have pressed his lips to hers at all, but the length of their kiss was bordering on too much.
It was short enough for it to be seen as just a goodbye peck, but long enough to irk Grayson in every way possible.
βBye, Savvy.β Rohan said, using his godawful nickname for Savannah. Savannah smiled at him.
βBye, Rohan.β Savannah purred, her voice sweet but her smile mischievous. As soon as the front door shut behind Rohan, Grayson turned to Savannah as he took out his wallet.
βI willββ
βWeβve been dating for over a year, Grayson. You canβt keep bribing me to break up with him.β Savannah deadpanned, interrupting his words as well as his actions as he froze, not having yet taken out his card. Grayson narrowed his eyes at her.
βFine. But I urge you to reconsider.β Grayson gritted out. With painstakingly tense movements, he lowered himself down onto the couch beside Lyra, sighing and wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
βYou knowβ¦β Gigi said, rising to her feet before giving Grayson a look, βI donβt feel entirely comfortable with you having your arm slung across my sister-in-lawβs shoulder, especially when the woman has yet to eat steak!β Gigi enunciated her words with a fist that pumped in the air, seemingly demanding action. Lyra snorted, but Graysonβs eyes only narrowed.
βYou two took her side before I even began explaining, didnβt you?β he deadpanned. Gigi nodded, and Savannah muttered a βsince before you entered the house, actuallyβ, but Grayson chose to ignore it with a warning look shot her way. Instead of removing his arm like Gigi suggested, Grayson pulled Lyra closer, looking back on the story and the way everyone had reacted and feeling guilty.
Had he really made Lyra feel like that much of a chore?
Acacia gave him a sympathetic look, seemingly sensing his switch in mood, and Lyra patted his thigh.
βItβs fine, Grayson. Weβll have steak eventually.β she reassured him, and when their eyes met, Grayson could see some guilt in hers, and he wondered if she was feeling slightly guilty on how she had teased him.
βBesides, you know we just had to take Lyra side. It just makes sense.β Gigi sympathized. Graysonβs eyebrows furrowed.
βHow, pray tell, does it βjust make senseβ?β Grayson asked, entirely amused. Gigi folded her hands together, looking like an evil mastermind revealing their grand plan.
βWhen it comes to family fights, there are sides that you simply must take,β she began, explaining her logic in a serious tone. βThink of it as teams. Thereβs the siblings team, and then thereβs the parents team. When Savannah would either fight with Dad, when he wasnβt in Tuscany, or Mom, I had to take her side. Because weβre the siblings team. And now Lyra is a part of our team, so naturally, I had to take her side. Do you understand?β
Grayson did not understand.
βOkayβ¦ but wouldnβt that make me on the siblings team as well?β Grayson slowly asked, raising an eyebrow at Gigi. Gigi gasped.
βOh my God! I totally forgot to explain the last team!β Gigi erupted. Then, she cleared her throat.
βThe last team that is, dare I say, the most important and rises above all other ranksβ¦ is the sisterβs team.β Gigi explained. Grayson couldnβt help but let a smile touch his lips. βNow that you and Lyra are dating, sheβs officially our sister, putting her in the team above siblings, aka yours.β
Lyra froze beside Grayson, and he wondered if she was wondering whether or not she heard them right. Grayson let out a soft laugh.
βIβm on the sisterβs team?β Lyra asked, her voice soft. Gigi beamed.
βObviously. Youβre our honorary sisterβnot by blood, but close enough.β Gigi replied, her eyes twinkling. Savannah stood from the couch, walking over to stand beside Gigi.
βI second that.β Savannah said, her arms crossed while twinkling eyes met Lyraβs head on.
There was a moment where Grayson thought he saw a shining haze cover Lyraβs eyes, before she blinked rapidly and it went away.
βGood to know.β Lyra said, her voice simple despite her reaction to Gigiβs words before. Grayson glanced between the two, his heart far warmer than it was earlier.
βWell,β Acacia cut in, a warm smile on her face. βYou 4 keep chatting. Iβll go check on dinner, although Iβm sure it wonβt be longer than 15 minutes.β
βWait,β Grayson said, rising to his feet. βI need to do something. Iβll be right back.β
Ignoring Lyra and his sistersβ curious looks, Grayson grabbed his keys off the coffee table, and headed outside.
With a slam of a car door, Grayson headed back in, carrying a bouquet of flowers and a steak. He had to cook it quickly to not keep Lyra waiting during dinner, but heβd do his best.
Once he walked in and Lyra saw what he was holding, she bursted out laughing.
βOh, Graysonββ she started, her eyes sparkling as he walked over. Before she could finish, Grayson bent over the couch and pressed a passionate kiss to her lips. Gigi immediately made loud sounds of disgust.
βI love you,β Grayson breathed when he finally pulled back. βLyra, youβll never be a chore to me. And if you want a steak, you damn sure will be getting one.β
Gigi and Savannah both broke into laughter, Gigi hooting something along the lines of βfinallyβ, whereas Lyraβs eyes shined.
βThank you, honey. I love you too.β she smiled, leaning in to press another kiss to his lips. Grayson handed her the bouquet.
βThese are for you. Now,β Grayson started, rolling up his sleeves, βtime to prepare the best steak possible in the span of 10 minutes.β
On the dinner table, there was mashed potatoes, a rotisserie chicken, various boiled vegetables, stuffing, and on Lyraβs plate, a steak. A beautiful, more-rare-than-medium-because-thatβs-what-Lyra-likes medium rare steak.
It was gone in the span of 5 minutes.
Once the dinner was over, and the table was being cleared, Lyra came over to Grayson and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
βThank you, super-man.β she giggled. Before she could pull away, Grayson grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer to him.
βI just want you to know,β he started softly, βthat you will never be a chore to me. In fact, I want you to scream and shout and fight with me when I do something like ignore your demands for steak, because I donβt want to be the man who loses sight of whatβs in front of me. I donβt want to get lost in my job, and I know how much you mean to me.β Grayson smiled. βI also now know that this argument was never about fish.β
Lyra froze. She looked deeply touched by his words, but before she could express that, a small smile touched her lips.
βIβm sorry. Did you say you want me to scream and shout and fight with you?β Lyra asked. Grayson smirked.
βBelieve me, whenever youβre yelling at me, Iβm right where I wanna be.β
Lyra swatted his arm as he laughed, her cheeks brightening.
βIf anyone even utters the word steak or fish in my presence, I will be showing all of you why my right hook is Rohanβs favourite thing about me.β Savannah deadpans.
Gigi laughs.
Savannah does not.
ββ¦we should be going,β Lyra began slowly, βbut thank you so much for dinner, Acacia. It was lovely.
βThank your boyfriend,β Acacia said, smirking. βHeβs the one who put your little dinner together.β
Lyra turned to him, rolling her eyes playfully.
βThanks, I guess.β Lyra said.
βWe need to work on that.β Grayson chuckled. βGoodnight Acacia. Bye girls!β
Gigi and Savannah both waved goodbye, as Acacia hugged Grayson dearly. Then, she went an did the same to Lyra, before the couple walked out.
As Lyraβs heels clicked on the cobblestone, she laughed. Grayson raised a brow.
βWhat is it?β he asked.
βYou know what I kind of want to get for lunch tomorrow?β Lyra asked, still laughing. He suddenly wore an amused expression.
βWhat?β
βFish and chips.β

Ever Had A Celebrity Crush, Ms. Kane?
Synopsis: A horrific sequence of events follows a tiny joke Lyra makes on live television. Perhaps simply saying she was dating her celebrity crush or saying the actual name of said celebrity crush would've been better. If Lyra could've anticipated all the drama that would occur from something so simple, she honestly wouldn't have agreed to do the interview to begin with.

The post Grandest Game interviews were hard when you lost. Not that Lyra exactly feels like a loser. But it does get annoying when you keeping hearing the same things over and over again.
"Are you happy for Savannah Grayson?"
"What would you have done with the money if you had won?"
"If you could go back in time what would you do differently so that you didnt lose?"
