#lynxpaw

lynxkit was born alongside his sisters, wishkit and echokit, at the end of a warm greenleaf. as a kit, he was quite energetic and mischievous, as were his littermates, and they would always be getting up to something they shouldn’t be.

one leaf-fall day, wishkit persuades her siblings to play hide-and-seek outside of camp. echokit and lynxkit agreed (though lynxkit was a bit more reluctant to). the three then snuck out through the dirtplace tunnel and into the forest.

they had been playing for a while. lynxkit was crouched inside a bush near the river, keeping a lookout for wishkit, who was seeking. suddenly he saw morningstar, his leader, creep up behind wishkit. lynxkit was too far away to hear most of what was said, but he could see his sister cowering in fear under the large tom’s gaze. as the clan leader stepped back, wishkit recomposed herself and said something in retaliation — something lynxkit again couldn’t hear. this caused morningstar to snap around and swat at her face with a huge ginger paw — except his unsheathed claws missed her cheek and hit her throat. lynxkit could only watch in horror as wishkit fell, blood spilling from her tiny neck, as morningstar watched on, eyes wide in shock. after what seemed like an eternity, she fell still.

lynxkit’s legs shook as his stomach churned as he watched his leader stare at the kit’s bloody body, deep in thought. he then picked her up, hooked a claw into her scruff and dipped her into the water to wash away the blood. he then laid her on the ground and started lapping at her neck fur to cover the wound to her throat (which wasn’t very large). he then picked her up in his jaws and started towards camp.

lynxkit could barely process what he’d just seen. he ran over to where he had just seen his sister, where her blood still remained. he threw up. he started to run back to camp, but his legs couldn’t carry him, and as he fell, the world sank to blackness.

ok i’m too lazy to type out the rest of the lore but basically morningstar and duskcloud (the deputy and his sister) are trying to cover up the evidence of her murder and lynxpaw and echopaw are being helped by yarrowpaw, the medicine cat apprentice, to try expose them (easier said than done what with 3 apprentices vs the highest ranks in the clan)

anyways some bonus fun facts:

- he is the second oc i ever created for my oc lore, and he exists in the fernflowerverse (i need a better name) but it’s a almost entirely unrelated subplot to fern’s

- in my original design he was a she-cat. i might make ftm lynxpaw canon idk we’ll see lmao

- he was born with half a tail and no one really knows why. it was probably some genetic mutation

-his warrior name is probably gonna be lynxclaw
