Regarding the edged weapon prohibition for clerics in AD&D, a rule I still follow when playing clerics of gods from older settings like Greyhawk ("Dragon Mirth," Dragon magazine 45, January 1981)
The initials "LWB" and "LEB" (or "LCB") are missing from this issue's credits. There were 5 "Clarence the Cleric" strips from issues 34-52 with the same initials, inconsistently identified in one issue only as "L W Boelman," in another as "L Blankenship and L Boelman," and in another as "L Blankenship" and "L E Boelman."
L Blankenship is an uncommon name, though not unique in the US. It is tempting to speculate that this could be a 15 year old Lloyd Blankenship, creator of GURPS Cyberpunk, the volume seized in the infamous federal raid of Steve Jackson Games in 1990. That Lloyd Blankenship also had a GURPS Fantasy article in Dragon 194 in June, 1993. Known as "The Mentor" in hacking circles, he wrote "The Conscience of a Hacker," aka "The Hacker Manifesto," for the zine Phrack no 7, in 1986.
