This is the result of my repaint job on a 90s Carvin DC. The owner of this guitar had brought it to another guy before, who made the bevel and a previous repaint. I used a modern Kiesel Aries as reference for the colors then finished it with a satin finish. I also swapped the pickups for some Dimarzios, put a push-push tone pot and redid the wirings. I had to make a design for the decal with Adobe Illustrator since I couldn't find it online.
This is what the guy who worked on this guitar before me came up with after 7 months of waiting.
And this is how I received the guitar. Luckily for me I had less sanding to do but the bevel and all the contours were very uneven so I had to reshape them.

after three long months, i'm finally done* with this hurdy-gurdy!
(*not yet in playable condition- the strings right now are temporary strings that are not quite to the correct pitches. i will post a video once she's playable!)
i learned a LOT through this project. massive shoutout to everyone who helped me out along the way. i sadly can't name names without doxxing myself because they're actual professionals in my area, but i do want to be clear that i didn't do this alone! i'm hoping to tackle a few other instruments on my own in the future- i'll probably venture into viols once i've got a steady workspace again. stay tuned!
