PRO lurker 💯
Actually this might’ve been posted before idk im lurking HARD rn
This is just a quick showcase of my ghoulcloak before I post the steps to make one (I need to pre shrink that fabric. It's in the wash right now).
First off, there are a bunch of different ways to make a cloak. I made a very simple half circle cloak in a fairly short length (about 40". It falls to approximately my hips). This maximizes mobility while still being long enough to cover me completely while crouching. A longer cloak would be difficult to move quickly in the woods. The cloak includes a capelet and hood.
It's made of two colours of wool. I chose to do it in two different colours to break up my silhouette. Even at night, most things aren't one solid colour. Having variety makes me less visibly human shaped (something your brain naturally looks out for), and prevents me from being too obviously out of place. I avoided a proper black, opting for dark grey and brown instead. Black can be too dark. Even at night, there's usually *some* light. Wool keeps me warm and handles water well.
There are loops at approximately wrist level to stick my hands through. These allow me to give the illusion of wings, as well as keep better control of the ends of the cloak while on the move.
Finally, I've added several tassles of the contrasting colour to the capelet. These help to further break up my silhouette, and are very weakly attached. They're the most likely place I expect someone to try to grab- in that event, they'll just rip off, like a lizard shedding its tail.
Stay tuned for the cloak tutorial. I'll show you how to make a cloak- ghoul or otherwise (it's a super quick and easy project).
the feeling comes along, wherever you are
One piece of internet advice that should be brought back is to lurk moar. It's an old image board advice. Basically, when going to a new site lurk around a bit, explore and don't speak to other people on the site. It helps with learning websites in general, so you learn their culture and don't make an ass of yourself.
