I think one major factor that boils my piss about people who pitch a fit about Lunter calling it literally incest, aside from that just being blatantly false, is the fact that it's incredibly disrespectful and in a way hypocritical.
Obviously it's disrespectful to the shippers but that's not what I'm talking about (people hating wouldn't care about that anyway). Let's Ignore the fact that they're not siblings or meaningfully related in any way and just play ball with some logic here.
In my interpretation, when people say these things, they're essentially saying "I consider these characters familiarly related, so I consider shipping them as incestuous, and if you ship them you are a supporting proponent of incest."
When you claim Lunter to be incest you are putting Luz x Hunter on the same playing field as Hunter x Belos. Incest is fucking incest. You can't half-incest something. It either is or it isn't and if it isn't then it isn't.
They're attempting to grandstand and virtue signal about how 'against incest' they are but in doing so they're in a way equating actual incest to two characters who are not related in any way.
You're trivializing a topic you're claiming to take seriously. You can't claim to care so so much about how serious you take something and how against it you are while also downplaying it to such an extent.
I know we're talking about fictional characters here but let me just use real people (because that's how these kinda arguments get treated anyway) hyperbole to get my point across.
Let's say there are two real-life teens who've known each other for like 4 years, have no blood or legal familial ties, but has stated they're "family now" and who's bickering reminds you of siblings and they began to date. Now, let's introduce a hypothetical victim of true incest. If you genuinely looked at the teens and claimed they were being incestuous you are saying that situation is THE SAME as the victim. That the trauma of the victim is equal to something which isn't a problem for anyone involved but your personal boundaries. If you really took it seriously you wouldn't trivialize it into something so evil into something so shallow. You wouldn't use that word so lightly.
Do you prefer Lunter pre- or post-timeskip? And differently do you think the dynamic of the two would be?

Truth is I just don't currently have the same love for TOH or Lunter as I used, partially because of the fandom but mostly because of time and getting into other interests
Rest assured, I still love them! I think about them every so often, but I'd say don't expect much content of them anytime soon

We finished Lunterweek2026 and this little comic inspired by the new TOH novel.
"The first thing Luz saw when she woke up was a strange but attractive young man caressing her cheek so gently that she could only react in one way"
Half a HC half an AU but transfem Hunter datiing Luz getting very flustered very easily at the slightest hints of gendered affection, Luz helping her realize the kind of girl she wants to be.
Existing within it outside this HC Hunter turning the tables and trying to fluster Luz with the advantage of height, and it working much much better than either of them really think it should.
Luz using Hunter as a drawing reference and model. Hunter accepting even if it means sitting in a pose for hours at a time.
Hunter , via grimwalker shenanigans has the same slept spot behind his ear those guys do, Luz using this to great effect (with his permission)
In an AU where Luz keeps her titan form Luz curling up in Hunter's lap, despite being larger than him, and falling asleep there, with much purring.
Ooo, interesting. I think it'd be a cute moment if Luz used Hunter as a model reference, seeing them beauty in Hunter in contrast with any insecurity Hunter may have with his own body (scars, being a grimwalker, etc or in the au you mentioned with gender dysphoria or anything like that)
Also I'm imagining Luz kept her Titan form and Hunter thinks it's some total BS strictly because he used to be the Tall One and now Luz is taller
