Postcard Calendars Going Out
It was cloudy early in the day today. But the blue sky began to appear after 11 a.m. when the clouds made room for the sunshine. The overnight low was 55 degrees. Today’s high topped out at 76.
My blood sugar dropped down to 150 this morning. Rather surprising given the pizza and soda for dinner and the gummies at bedtime. But good news, nevertheless.
After we had our coffee and played the online brain games for the day, Nancy started doing her yoga session. I got on the computer and did my Flickr routines, which included uploading a few more bridge pictures and some old sunflower pictures from the office in Tucson.
Then we had oatmeal for breakfast, after which Nancy made a new appointment with the eye doctor for a consult on a corneal transplant. After which she talked with Robin and then Joan.
The postcard calendars for 2026 arrived today from the printing company, and I got a few ready to mail out to my siblings.
We showered and went to lunch for National Cheeseburger Day at Cornucopia. Then we went by the Post Office in downtown Springfield to mail the calendars and buy more stamps.
On the way home we stopped by St. Vinnie’s to drop off the belt I bought at Costco that stretched too much to be useful. We also got a mocha from Old Crow.
Then we decided to go to the new CVS on Marcola Road, but they weren’t offering vaccines yet because the switchover from the old pharmacy is not complete. So, we went to Albertson’s and Nancy got signed up for and got the first of the two-part shingles vaccine. She figures it is good to have that done before her eye consultation at the end of the month.
We finally made it home, and I went out for a walk. I put in 2.11 miles in 41.5 minutes, a total of 4,800 steps. While I was out walking, Flickr flipped at 5 p.m., and the total views for today were 2,365, with 112 faves.
A little before 6:30 p.m., I tuned in to the Zoom meeting of the Emerald Photographic Society for what turned out to be a photo forum. It consisted of members sharing some recent work. Most of what was shared was interesting, so I was looking forward to sharing some of mine.
Sadly, I could not figure out how to get the sharing to work on the Zoom without shutting down the software, so I will try to get that done before the next meeting. One of the members opens the Zoom early to help with technical stuff. Next Thursday, though, is the live social hour, and I am planning to attend and meet some of the members in person.
It was nearly 8 p.m. by the time we all signed off, and having had a big, late lunch, Nancy and I passed on any kind of dinner. We dived right into the streaming for the evening.
We started with Colbert’s show from Wednesday night. His primary guest was Ron Howard, and he also had a taped Colbert Questionert segment with Gary Oldman. Then we finished up with the third episode of the Aussie “Return to Paradise.”
Tomorrow is expected to be sunny once again, with a low tonight of 53 degrees and a high of 79.
Nancy arranged for Joan to come up for lunch with us on Friday. We might be going to the Fifth Street Market once again, but that remains to be seen. I will also be preparing more postcard calendars to go in the mail.

September 18, 1905, was the birth date of Greta Garbo, a Swedish actress who was a premier star during Hollywood’s silent and early golden eras. Regarded as one of the greatest screen actresses of all time, she was known for her melancholic and somber screen persona, her film portrayals of tragic characters, and her subtle and understated performances.
