Enjoy a tasty Bison Patty Melt Sandwich with Swiss cheese and onions that have been caramelized. You can eat this tasty sandwich for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients: 1/2 lb ground bison. Salt and black pepper to taste. 2 slices of rye bread. 2 slices of Swiss cheese. 1/4 cup caramelized onions. 2 tablespoons butter. 2 tablespoons mayonnaise. 1 tablespoon ketchup. 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard.
Instructions: Season the ground bison with salt and black pepper, then form it into a patty. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bison patty to your desired level of doneness, approximately 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove the patty from the skillet and set it aside. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of rye bread. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard to make a sauce, then spread it on the other side of each slice of rye bread. Place one slice of Swiss cheese on each slice of bread, mayo side up. Top one slice of bread with the cooked bison patty, caramelized onions, and the other slice of bread with cheese, mayo side down. In the skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the sandwich. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.
