oh man....

okay, well, i think luz would be Frantic to get back. which camila understands and supports, until it becomes clear that luz's Main reason for wanting to go back is bc she feels like she HAS to because she's the empress and nobody else can save the isles and what if it's all collapsing back into ruin and and and--!!

and then camila's like. still outwardly supportive, but also. Deeply Concerned (TM).

amity would be anxious to find out what's going on with lilith, but she doesn't have a whole lot to miss in the isles. my first thought was that hunter might take her aside to be like, "hey, listen. i have my own worries but i'm actually kind of cool with being stuck here. can you help me calm luz down and convince her it's better for her to be here. you KNOW how she is. Blease"

as for things NOT involving fretting about the isles, some of my thoughts are:

camila would basically let them do whatever they want, as long as it's not dangerous, illegal, or likely to hurt others. these kids have all been living with the rights and responsibilities of full-fledged adults for a Long Time, so. she's not gonna try to, like, Parent Them. at least unless she's asked.

therefore i think the sleeping arrangements would end up very similar to the triad's arrangement in the isles. luz is getting SNUGGLED. hardcore style. hunter is just as willing to go take a walk when luz and amity want Alone Time. amity is just as embarrassed. luz still thinks this is all very funny....

i'm sure camila's kept stuffed animals from luz's childhood... i'm thinking a stuffed snake and a stuffed bat, since her weird little toddler wasn't attached to teddy bears. camila dusting them off and offering them to luz without mentioning she's had 'em for 13 years, just like, i saw these and thought of you :) & luz is like OMG. CREATURES :D

hunter gets obsessed with wolves, to no one's surprise. amity befriends all the neighborhood cats, to no one's surprise. if she and hunter and luz can get decent human identities then amity probably starts volunteering at a local shelter...

i don't know what exactly amity and luz would Do on their first date, but i do think they'd probably go on one! maybe the fair..... canon toh luz clearly enjoyed fair-adjacent activities in the isles & i think amity would too. luz is eating basically every kind of fair food and then throwing up because her stomach isn't used to Human Grease. it's a beautiful affair

hunter would start out with his usual level of caution/paranoia, but it would very very veeeery slowly ease over time. it helps A Lot that nobody here recognizes luz or has any reason to want her dead. his biggest issues would be very "You Are The Problem" ones wherein he doesn't feel safe if he isn't armed and hasn't vetted everyone in a room and can't see where luz is, and camila is like

....honey. You Gotta Stop,

the vee situation might be a mess, depending. if vee isn't "out" to luz then i think she'd probably stay "human" instead of telling the truth. and she'd be Frantic about making sure camila doesn't slip in her story & that she and camila both have their stories 100% straight, since camila is such a terrible liar.

and vee would Probably spend a lot of time outside of the house, bc obviously she can't explain why she doesn't want to be near hunter. if she's starting college soon then she'd move into dorm housing. and luz would feel terrible and guilty bc she obviously doesn't know why vee is so strange about her, & so she just feels like she's once AGAIN usurping the "Real Child" in a family.

if vee IS out then she can be Much more direct and confrontational. despite being a mess, hunter WOULD want to work things out with her, both bc she is luz's sister and because he does feel really really awful. but the situation would be a bit fraught. for obvious reasons.

canon toh camila researches being a parent to a queer child.... i'm sure AU camila has already researched being a guardian to an adopted child who was a tortured lab experiment came from a severely neglectful/abusive background. and i Know she's also researched how to reunite with a formerly-kidnapped child, even if she feels like she's bungled that one.

so i feel like she'd surreptitiously add a couple memoirs and psychology books to her shelf about, like, the rehabilitation of child soldiers. given, uh, the Everything. with hunter and amity.
