HN characters headcannons part 1/idfk 🤑 :

so the autism stuck again and now i must deliver, the guys I’m doing in this part are :

Nicky , Aaron , Trinity , enzo , Maritza ( in this order )

I say headcannons in the title but this will really be sort of deep dives into each character with stuff I believe to be cannon and more personal headcannons on my part. Please stay with me for this I’m not crazy I PROMISE 🥹 I’m here to deliver you guys the content your starving for okay let’s begin. ( disclaimer I’m gonna be talking about some heavy stuff so if that’s not good for u rn maybe like save this for later or scroll on by )

Nicky:

okay I’m gonna start off by talking about this poor kids multitude of physiological issues 💔 let’s start with ones I believe to be cannon or HEAVILY implied ( which means based of a lot of evidence)

N-REM disorder : just for some context N-REM disorder is a umbrella term for sleep disorders experienced during the deep stages of sleep, to be more specific I believe Nicky suffers from both nightmare disorder, and somnambulism. (basically a repeated and more complex form of sleep walking)

this would mean that Nicky suffers from the following symptoms I sampled from sources and are mostly expressed in his character:

sleep resistance, meaning it’s very difficult for him to fall asleep after being woken from a night terror. Sleepwalking regularly and performing complex tasks such as leaving buildings. Experiencing threatening, vivid dreams that he could recall in detail. Being difficult to wake. And finally having lingering anxious thoughts after waking from a night terror.

This is explored in the books and also I would say in the second season of wtrb beacuse bro is like up and atem at midnight.

2. Primary dyslexia : for some context primary dyslexia is the type of dyslexia that is expressed from birth and not caused by any external factors ( injuries etc )

this means Nicky would express poor spelling skills, and experience difficulty reading.

now I say this is most likely cannon as if we use the games as our source here all of the words are always jumbled up and we play from his perspective. ( however I’ve been heard that it’s also its own language apparently ?? So if that’s true then this one might just be a personal headcannon on my part )

3. C-PTSD : for some context C-PTSD stands for complex post traumatic stress disorder. This means that the trauma induced occurs over months and is repeated throughout these months.

obviously you’d have to be an absolute melted solid if you didn’t think Nicky suffered repeated abuse and trauma during his abduction ( I feel SO smart using that word )

this means that Nicky suffers from symptoms such as flashbacks, irritability, sleeping problems ( which worsens his N-REM disorder) , outbursts, which is shown during the infamous window scene which you could argue was also a flashback if you squint a little. And finally paranoia ( which I’ll dive deeper into in another section)

again if you dont think this is cannon your genuinely a hot water bottle just play the games or watch the show its right infront of your eyes act three is literally about healing from trauma bro🫩

4.schizophrenia: for some context schizophrenia is a disorder that effects how a person perceives reality, thinks and behaves. often times schizophrenics suffer from hallucinations or delusions. This disorder is not directly caused from trauma, however trauma can be a factor for schizophrenia to trigger in a person who was already genetically vunerable.

again this one is very obviously cannon, i believe the fandom name for Nicky’s hallucination is called the thing ?? Very creative guys smh anyway this things design is very interesting. it’s literally an inhuman hostile. Take one good look at that thing and you’ll see it’s literally a walking threat. One could call it an externalisation of his paranoia ( lit gcse is over stfu Gracie )

anyway what makes me definitely 100% this is both a hallucination and an allegory all at the same time is that he draws it all over his wall in the show ( much to big t’s disdain) suggesting he’s trying to validate the hallucination to himself out of fear. As someone who believes they may also be schizophrenic too that is VERY relatable (Obvs researched this too because I’m not diagnosed so my word isn’t all that valid )

This ones definitely cannon and not up for debate don’t be a plant pot.

okay so now I’m gonna move on to issues that are more personal headcannons that aren’t as obviously stated in the media , however there is an extent of evidence to back them

1.hyperactive adhd : for some context hyperactive adhd is the type of adhd associated with restlessness and impulsivity

Going off show Nicky which is the one I know the most, throughout the first half of season one he expresses many adhd traits. He hyperfixates on the mystery, neglecting school, his social life ( which he struggles with anyway ), his own needs, and his reputation.

now I LOVE trinitys and Nicky’s dynamic in season one, I think the reason they connect so much is because they fuel eachother shared hyperfixation. But in regards to his relationship towards trinity he is VERY impulsive, energetic and lacks understanding towards her genuine apprehension and fear. (I’ll actually talk more about neurodivergent bonding later )

and if your like - well in season two he’s not like that AT ALL. Well yeah, due to his trauma the more “negative” traits of adhd are expressed, such as anxiety. ( I put negative in quotation marks because I don’t think there’s any “good” traits of a disorder, but some are more publicly perceived as negative than others )

2. Stockholm syndrome : for some context this condition is actually an extremely under researched field. Scientists are currently regarding it a phenomenon they find hard to understand, as the symptoms patients experience are extremely varied. But to simplify it the best I can, Stockholm syndrome is a condition where hostages develop an emotional attachment to their captors ( OBVIOUSLY NOT ROMANTIC IN NICKYS CASE <<<<< a million arrows )

now I’ve actually done a complete deep dive on Nicky’s connection to this condition on its own, you can read it on my blog if your interested ( you’ll have to find it yourself sorry gang ) but in summary patients may experience the following :

refusal/ reluctance to leave the place of captivity, negativity towards police or other members of authority, and a stark change in personality.

unless you watched s1 ep 6 with your eyes closed, these traits are very clearly expressed. He doesn’t listen to the big t, he takes her back to the basement and tells her it’s safe. Big t has to pull out all the tactics to actually get him to go with her again. But, as I said if you want to know my thoughts on this deeper you’ll have to look for my previous post on that.

3. PPD: for some context PPD stands for paranoid personality disorder, it’s a condition where patients experience an intense feeling of threat and mistrust. It isn’t always but can be induced by trauma ( which in this case I think it is )

this means that Nicky ( this poor kid oh my GOD ) would experience symptoms such as hyperviligence, stubbornness, hostility, self isolation and difficulty relaxing.

these behaviours are shown in season 2, however there reason this is mostly a headcannon is because those symptoms can also be presented due to c-ptsd, which is a more cannon compliant explanation. However I established his link to this disorder through his dialogue, when he says no one’s safe that’s less of a personal problem and more of an expression of a looming threat.

okay Jesus Christ that poor kid, let’s talk about some headcannons that are a little more chill.

fun / random headcannons :

firstly, I’d say this kid is definitely bi to some degree. He is NOT just bros with Aaron and you all know it. Thier relationship is one built on co-dependence and trauma, but it’s still a genuine and meaningful one. However I will say tricky is a good ship too and I think then Gen had some chemistry in the first half of s1 before the big t went on her evil arc.

as far as personality goes - I’d say his mbti is ISTP , meaning hes adventurous, outgoing and imaginative.

I think another really random one in my head is that he hates wearing shoes, I think he is a sock warrior and loves to slide along floors in socks like he’s ice skating or some shit ( me dos )

Physical headcannons:

that kid has the BIGGEST hair youve ever seen, it’s all just fluff. Probably like 2b hair that’s like REALLY thick. In the basement I’m gonna say he grew some sort of a georgie cooper type mullet and it probably reached his lower jaw.

I see him having the cutest button nose, and the biggest eyes ever think like the literal embodiment of innocence.

I think his hair would genuinely make up for most of his height 💔

what’s up with the eyes man ? Did he literally get the shit beat out of him so hard his irises just like reset character or something 🥹🥹 ( genuinely researched this and physical trauma can damage iris tissue causing discolouration so he was probably getting lots of shovels to the face😢)

poor guy he’s only like 13 I think 🥹 okay moving on.

Aaron:

okay so like Nicky this kid has ALOT of problems 💔 so I’m gonna go through them first, starting with ones that I think are cannon/ are HEAVILY implied.

1.primary dyselxia : this is the same condition I think Nicky has so your well versed on the context and symptoms now. The reason I believe that Aaron may have this too is just HN2 ngl, because bro can’t spell to save his life ( literally.) also it would be nice to see the two share this struggle with eachother.

another reason he might have primary dyslexia may be because of his artwork, I think Aaron probably expresses himself through drawings as opposed to writing as he may find it difficult to do so. He’s a highly imaginative person who definitely prefers pictures or symbols over words.

2. MDD : for some context, MDD stand for major depressive disorder, it’s a serious health condition that is characterised by deep, persistent sadness, low energy, and seriously disrupts daily life.

this means that Aaron would experience symptoms such as hopelessness, self hatred, irritability and sadly suicidal tendencies. As far as the books go, I think Aaron was probably experiencing some sort of depression even before loosing his mother and sister. I’m sure living with a mentally ill father who believed he was the root cause of all the family problems took a toll on him. This is even described through Nicky’s perspective, he perceives Aaron as reserved and serious. Which just sort of makes me believe in this headcannon more.

Grieving his mother and then manslaughtering his little sister would have obviously worsened his grief and depression.

3. Stockholm syndrome: again this was explained for Nicky so you should get the context of it now. However in Aaron’s case I feel it’s a little different.

his emotional attachment to his captor is obviously familial it’s his dad 🤡 Aaron is manipulated and genuinely believes he can’t try and leave because he doesn’t deserve to. He also obviously feels sorry for his dad and recognises he’s mentally ill. Don’t quote me on this but I’m pretty sure he says something along the lines of “I’m all he has left.” Which is SO sad. He doesn’t even say “ we’re all WE have left.” Which just prooves he feels like he HAS to stay because he cares about his father a lot.

this means that Aaron would experience symptoms a little similar to Nicky, however I think the main symptom would be feeling sympathy for his captor, as well as definitely refusing to cooperate with police as he literally takes off running when he escapes instead of going to the police who were literally outside.

I feel like this is just definitely cannon, I think he’s amazing rep of this condition if it is. He both resents and loves his father all at once, which is just a beautiful expression of how abuse is so much more complex than people think.

4. Survivors guilt : for some context, survivors guilt is a condition where an individual feels remorse for surving an event which others did not, after doing some research I learned that people who had a hand in creating said event can experience this condition too, which does make Aaron a candidate.

If you even ask why he’d have this then you MIGHT be a larper he literally slimed his sister out. How could you NOT feel guilty for that ( he clearly expresses his guilt )

this means that Aaron would experience symptoms such as : feeling numb or disconnected from reality, flashbacks, and obsessive thoughts over an event that consume thinking.

5. C-PTSD : again I also explained this for Nicky so you should know the context.

gonna keep this one short and sweet, it’s VERY similar to Nicky however Aaron’s trauma took place over years rather than months, which creates even more complexities. Which means Aaron would experience symptoms similar to Nicky’s, however I think where they differ is Aaron seems to be more irritable and explosive when it comes to his expression of trauma.

again I feel like this is VERY obvious and more cannon than headcannon.

Okay now I’m gonna move onto ones that are moreso headcannons and less obviously stated, however I still think they’re very plausable for him as a character.

1.Autism : for some context, autism is a neurological disorder that affects the way a person experiences the world and how they communicate and interact with others. ( I’m literally autistic and idk how to summarise it help that’s the best I’ve got 🥹 ) anyway some of the symptoms I think Aaron expresses and would suffer from go as followed:

Struggling to make eye contact ( I think he does this alot in HN2 ?? ), isolation, limited social skills, lack of responsiveness, trouble expressing empathy ( that’s not to say he doesn’t feel it I hate when people say autistic people don’t know how to feel bad for someone ) we also know he struggles to make and keep friends.

a complete headcannon I have is that Aaron may go nonverbal on occasion. I have no evidence to back that but that’s just how I see his character🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I think him being autistic makes a lot of sense, he struggles to understand and identify his own emotions ( relatable ) which I think just does not help when he’s grieving both his mother and sister, which I think would lead to outbursts.

2.BPD: for some context, BPD stands for borderline personality disorder, it’s a condition that results in severe difficulty to emotionally regulate oneself ( oneself who the fuck am I 🤡)

I think this definitely applies to Aaron as he expresses the following symptoms: mood swings, explosive rage, unstable relationships and fear of abandonment.

after researching I learned that BPD can be worsened by trauma, which could explain his higher levels of aggression after his mum died. I think he expresses this disorder in the books and in hide and seek ALOT.

okay so yeah again poor kid man 💔 now it’s time for some general and random hcs :

Definitely also bi, same thing I put for Nicky thier relationship is NOT just bros ( gonna explore that in a sec)

personality wise I’d say Aaron’s mbti is ESTP, meaning he’s imaginative, risk taking and goal oriented.

as I said before I think he definitely uses art as a way to express and understand his own emotions.

physical headcannons:

Quite short, maybe a little taller than Nicky 💔

always has messy hair, even before the basement brother just never brushed it, his hands are also like so rough and scratched up because he’s always doing or making something dumb.

Always covered in dust or dirt.

now it’s time for my favourite, you know her, you hopefully love her and if so why not she’s the best character ever, the one, the only, BIG T 🤑🤑 ( I’m making her sound like she’s going on the chase or something )

trinity :

unfortunately trin did not escape from the neurodivergent curse 💔 let’s go over some conditions I believe she has, starting with the one I believe is actually cannon :

1.ruminative OCD : for some context, ruminative OCD is a compulsion where patients endlessly tries to solve or analyse an intrusive thought or scenario in thier head. This is trinity to a T (I’m so funny )

throughout wtrb, trinity is constantly displaying symptoms of ruminative ocd: such as fear, and despretely seeking reassurance through her own means. This could explain her highly impulsive personality.

trinity also expresses the “what if” phrase associated with the thinking style ruminative ocd patients adopt. She is constantly in a state of paranoia and fear and tries to expel those feelings. I believe this leads to some of her poorer choices in the second season ( which you all called her evil for I understand you trinity 🥲 )

I think this actually leads to some cruel irony in the show as trinity is ACTUALLY right about feeling this fear for once, and due to her disorder her parents don’t want to believe or validate what they think is a delusion. However it’s ironic because it literally isn’t. I also think Peterson has some form of OCD too which just makes thier strange dynamic even stranger and more complex than before.

now here’s a headcannon that actually makes a lot of sense if you hear me out

2.autism: I’ve explained the context for this for Aaron so you don’t need it again. Anyway, at first I thought ugh am I just projecting this onto trinity because I like her so much and relate to her, but after doing research I realised that autism and ocd are one of the most overlapping disorders there are.

trinity throughout the show is constantly hyperfixating, her monotropic thinking causes her to neglect responsibile thinking and real like commitments. This is shown in the season finale as when her parents get mad at her for sneaking out she literally completely disregards it and keeps talking about the cult. Trinity also stims a lot which may be a reach but I’m sorry she can only bite her lip so many times before I get suspicious. Like Aaron, she also has trouble expressing empathy and can come off as quite dismissive of other’s emotions. She also struggles socially and can’t tolerate uncertainty ( a symptom which overlaps with OCD.)

okay so now for some random/ fun ones :

I think the big t is straight, as much as I’d love for her to be bi like me I just don’t see her having a relationship with a female character of the cast ( as of now who knows maybe her and finch will hit it off 🤡) also quite liking trenzo right now.

personality wise I think her mbti is ENTJ, which means she’s a natural born leader who likes to feel in control, she’s commanding and goal oriented.

a random hc is that she lovesss lipgloss, like the ones from Clare’s I think she would have a HUGE collection of those.

physical headcannons :

I honestly don’t have many for this because I think she looks exactly like her show model in my head 💔

I think maybe she’d have longer hair and also braces ( she has those in the books )

I think her eyes would be a little sharper.

but yeah I think she’s perfect just the way she is 🥹

okay next uppp

enzo:

I think this kid is completely neurotypical so I’m just gonna do some quick headcannon points for him.

short sighted : I think enzo has myopia which is why he wears glasses ( me too but I don’t wear glasses lol )

personality wise I think he’s very ambiverted, he’s quite shy at first but has a charm, he’d definitely become more open and loud once you got to know him better.

I think aswell his mbti is INTP, which means he loves to learn, is kind , smart and likes to keep the peace.

bro is defo straight ive never seen a guy like a girl more 😭😭 ( not saying other hcs aren’t valid btw all hcs are cool !! )

I think his IQ is quite high but he plays it off to seem more likeable to others , I think he’s quite insecure deep down 🥲

dresses like it’s winter ALWAYS, he’s the trackie in summer kind of guy.

physical headcannons:

Very curly hair, maybe like 3a , a little less curly than his sister. He has very fluffy hair and prides himself upon it.

quite tall, a little small tiny bit taller than trinity.

baby soft hands, def uses hand cream 🤡

Maritza :

also think she’s neurotypical so I’m gonna go through some random headcannons.

chronic joint instability ( on the leg that got bear trapped :) this means that Maris leg suffers from muscle weakness, causing pain and a lack of movement in the area. For me this sadly means that after being kidnapped she had to give up football because her dominant leg was mauled.

still grieving Mya and Lucy, I think she’d be working well through it, but I don’t think she could bring herself to accept what happened. I think mari has a strong sense of justice and would definitely be irritated at anyone trying to talk to her about the deaths. I think she would refuse to talk about them unless highly upset. ( avoidance)

Lesbian. I believe in luritza supremacy and theres nothing more to it than that 🤑🤑

I think she has a confident and boisterous personality ( we know this is obviously a mask ) I think she’s extraverted and sometimes comes across as arrogant to others.

her mbti would be ISFJ, which means she is protective, defensive, hot headed and deeply caring for others. i think she would struggle with some school subjects such as maths but absolutely cook in like pe.

physical headcannons :

3b hair, I think she would have tried to dye the bottom of it and her dad absolutely killed her.

huge ahh scars on her leg from the hopscotch incident. ( bear trap )

not that physically strong but has good stamina which is why she kicks ass with her baseball bat

olive coloured eyes.
