Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Green and brown food coloring. Mini chocolate chips. Red fruit leather or red icing.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated. Divide the dough into two portions. Add green food coloring to one portion and brown food coloring to the other, kneading until the colors are evenly distributed. Shape the green dough into small balls and flatten them into tiki mask shapes. Shape the brown dough into small balls and flatten them into tiki mask shapes as well. Place the green tiki masks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Press mini chocolate chips onto the masks for the eyes and other details. Bake in a preheated oven at 350F 175C for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
