When someone first proposed the idea of a volleyball game, you almost rolled your eyes. The sun was scorching, but everyone else seemed excited. You didn't want to be a buzzkill, so you joined them.

It started out with as much fun as you thought it would, which was not much.

It wasn't fun for a while until you eventually started to get the hang of it. You and your teammate fell into a rhythm, nailing nearly every game.

Listening to the people in the stands applaud and cheer fueled you on.

There was only one thing, or rather, one person who threw you off.

Maverick.

You were still riding the rush of winning the last match when him and Goose walked up on the other side of the net.

God, he looked good, you thought. He was more muscular than you would've imagined.

Well, everyone at Top Gun had some muscles, but there was something about him.

And the cocky grin? The glasses? He really was handsome.

Before this, you'd barely spared him a glance. When you had, it was to see who your competition was. But now? You were sure your eyes were the size of dinner plates. And he noticed.

"You alright over there? Scared to lose?"

He flashed you that damn grin again. But you weren't going to lower your defences.

"Against you? Never"

He squinted his eyes, meeting yours.
