and actually as I'm sitting here turning that over in my head it is a way they could bring him back for the Actually Very Final Battle and still have it end roughly as it did in the campaign, with him walking away with the raven queen of his own volition, as a fulfillment of his contract.

but idk! I just dk. this is its own thing in so many ways at this point and I'm excited to see where they take it next.

continuing the tradition of me just recapping mine and mala's conversations: it feels like this is setting up the conflict of c3 a little more than it was irl, which was just a consequence of it being organic storytelling vs being more tightly scripted like the shows (and also there being nearly a decade in between). m9 doesn't really deal with it as much iirc so it'll be interesting to see if it pops up there as well

nobody come into my comments trying to convince/educate me on c3, I quit watching sometime after vax'ilorb and frankly am hoping it also gets animated and distilled down into something I can watch
