Ways to Redecorate Your Space on a Budget
Hello! With most of us spending a lot more time at home these days, it’s important that you love your space. This is also a good time to make any updates that you’ve been wanting to for a while! I recently turned my bedroom into a more tranquil space as I find I spend more time there for work meetings/classes/etc. Given these tough times, spending a lot of money may not be an option for some of us. And you shouldn’t have to! Here are some affordable ideas for ways you can redecorate your space on a budget!
1. Add blankets. To your couch, to your bed, wherever! Amazon is an excellent place to look for plush, comfy blankets at an affordable price. I recently purchased a plush blue blanket from the Exclusivo Meszcla brand on Amazon. The Waffle Flannel Fleece Velvet Plush Large Throw (yes that’s the name lol) in a Navy Blue was only $16.99, but there are so many other affordable options. Just make sure you look at the ratings and read the reviews before you pull the trigger, and pay attention to sizing if you need something specific.
2. Add some fun wall hangings/tapestries/new pictures. Get creative and make your own or buy some! My go-to stores are Amazon, Target and Etsy! I recently purchased a beautiful grey macrame wall hanging from an Etsy seller SpaceofJoy for only $15.95! Adding even one new piece can really change up a space, especially if you’re switching it out for something you weren’t too crazy about.
3. Candles. Not only do they add a beautiful warm glow, but they smell great and can really dress up a space! Target has amazing affordable soy candles, and Yankee Candle has been having some amazing deals lately. I also love Hauswitch Home & Healing (search hauswitchstore.com) for their unique, witchy, aesthetically pleasing candles.
4. String lights. Again, they add that nice warm glow and can really frame a wall in your home nicely. I recently purchased from Target their Room Essentials Clear Globe lights in white, for only $9.99! They’re so long, at over 16 feet, so it’s perfect for decorating an accent wall in your room or living room. Any string lights, globe, fairy, or Christmas would be a welcome addition!
5. Fake flowers. Amazon, Etsy, Michael’s and other craft stores have so many affordable fake flower options. Throw them in a vase and they add instant beauty and that spring vibe to any room in your home. If you can easily and safely access fresh flowers, you can do that as well!
6. Curtains. I recently hung some new flowy, sheer white curtains in my bedroom and I love them! Making that small change can add a whole new feel to your room! The ones I chose are KEQIAOSUOCAI Sheer White two panel curtains. They’re 63” long, cover one window, and only cost $14.99. I did some searching and saw that this had good ratings. The reviews verified the rating as well. Have fun searching and I’m sure you’ll find something you love. I’ve also had success at Big Lots and Target with fun, affordable curtains.
7. Move around your furniture, or de-clutter shelves/tabletops/closets/etc. Try out new placements for side tables, plants, or even big furniture! The best thing is that this doesn’t cost you a cent, and you can even earn some cash this way. I recently cleaned out my closet and spare room, and moved some furniture around and it looks and feels great! Donate your old clothes, or try to sell them on apps like Poshmark or Depop. Get rid of any old furniture you don’t use, or even things like old fans that are still functional, or pictures you no longer want or use. You can sell these items on Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp. Overall, just move things around, get rid of stuff that doesn’t spark joy, and have fun with it!
