EMBROIDERED LETTERS, BOTTLED RAINBOW, AND THE MYSTIC FROG

thank you for the prompt @bluestringpudding <3
Ron found the embroidered envelope in his jacket pocket. How it had gotten there, he did not know, however it was not the first time he had found such an embroidered fabric letter in a peculiar spot. Last month he had found one in his boot, the month before he found one in his cutlery drawer, next to the spoons.
On the corner of the cloth envelope, sewed neatly, was a small thread frog. The frog blinked and waved dazedly up at Ron.
And in the centre of the cloth envelope, his name was sewed artistically—Ronald. Only one person, other than his mother, called him by his full name. Only one person sewed their correspondence rather than pen it.
Luna.
He tried to ignore the way his heart sped up, and instead focused on opening the envelope. Ron turned over the cloth, and in the back was a button in the shape of a wax seal. He opened it, and pulled out the thin sheet of cloth from within.
Neat green thread looped over the cloth page in an elegant hand.
Hello Ronald Weasley,
I am sorry to disturb you on this lovely Sunday evening, however I find my supply of bottled rainbow dwindling and I was wondering if you had any to spare? A small jar should do the trick.
Much love,
Luna x
Ron read the message three times over, eyes lingering on the ‘x’ after her name, before folding it and slipping it neatly back into the envelope.
It had become a regular thing as of late, Luna sending him these letters requesting various supplies from the joke shop. It wasn’t always easy, though Ron always found a way of procuring her very odd wants.
Bottled rainbow, surprisingly, was something Ron already had in stock. He and George had built a very good rapport with the Leprechauns—and it was rather easy to haggle for bottled rainbow when they had lots of gold to trade with.
So, he wrapped up a bottle, much larger than what she had requested, neatly in parchment paper, and called on his owl.
As he waited for the bird to arrive at the window, his eyes travelled back to the envelope that sat on the countertop. The frog hopped around the cloth for a moment before pausing, eyes turning his way, as though it had felt Ron’s gaze.
“You love her,” the frog croaked.
Ron, startled, jumped a foot away, almost dropping the bottle in his hands.
“What in the bloody fucking fuck!”
The frog rolled it’s eyes and drawled, “Yes, a talking frog, how terrifying.”
Ron dropped his tense shoulders, and slowly approached.
“How are you—alive?”
The frog gave him a tired look. “Magic. I believe you are familiar with it, so I am drawing a blank as to why you look particularly shocked at my existence. Alas, we do not have time to ponder such trivialities.”
“O–Okay?”
“You love her. And you must tell her before she assumes you are incapable of verbalising such things.”
“Who? What?”
“Who do you think? You know she doesn’t create mystic frogs for just anyone.”
Ron blinked slowly. Of course there was only one person the frog could be talking about, and of course it was correct in it’s estimations of his feelings towards the witch in question, it was just…
Well, he was shit scared.
“Did she create you just to…?”
“Yes, she created me to pass on this message. So, what are you going to do?”
Ron thought for a long moment, before answering, “I’m going to deliver the bottled rainbow in person.”
“Good,” the frog nodded. “Better get going, then, don’t keep her waiting.”
Ron’s heart fluttered in his chest, anticipation thrumming through his veins. He carefully picked up the embroidered envelope and slipped it back into his pocket, picked up the bottled rainbow, and walked towards his floo.
He was going to deliver the bottled rainbow to Luna Lovegood, and then he was going to tell her that he loved her.
The mystic frog croaked contently in his pocket.
