I've worn a scrub skirt to nursing school clinicals since day one. I have two; one goes to just-below my knees, and the other is ankle-length. Both are made out of scrub material. 

As far as I know, I am the only one in my program who wears skirts full-time, especially for scrubs. Many people are surprised that I wear a skirt in a situation where pants are almost 100% the norm. I've received some pretty strange questions, both from other students, instructors, and patients:

"Are you Amish?" 

"Since you wear a skirt, do you have to do that thing where you make a pilgrimage to the Middle East?"

"Does your rabbi make you wear that skirt?" 

Usually I calmly correct people and explain that no, I'm not Amish, Muslim,  or Christian; I'm Orthodox Jewish. I wear the skirt because I feel that it is an expression of female modesty, and, frankly, I like the aesthetic of skirts more anyway. 

I get positive responses too. Many nurses or hospital staff will look at my skirt and then smile at me. Some mention that when they started nursing, the uniform included a skirt/dress. There is a staff member on my current floor who also wears skirts for religious reasons, and we always smile and greet each other as "skirt buddy!"
