Proud of the way I stayed soft.

Soft, but not small.

The way I stood there—

imperfect, unsure,

nakedly myself.

I didn’t play it cool.

I didn’t match energy.

I didn’t hide hope

behind detachment.

Maybe I stood there

a little too long but —

I’ll do it again.

I absolutely guarantee that Carol Lynn Pearson would approve.

She wrote about including everyone, especially those who have special needs or are different in one way or another. She meant for this to include LGBTQ+ people. 

She was married to a gay man, they ultimately divorced but remained friends and she nursed him in his final months as he died of AIDS. She watched the pain her LGBTQ LDS friends endured & knew it was wrong. She wrote a children's hymn about what Jesus would do. He'd walk🌈 He'd talk🤗 He'd love❤️
