#lovecraft's study

Less than crystal clear photos of Lovecraft's study taken by Robert Barlow following HPL's death. If better enhanced versions of these can be located they will be posted here in the future. One thing is evident in these pictures: Lovecraft's final living quarters were kept in order, but were tightly packed with papers. HPL created several amusing drawings/cartoons depicting himself surrounded and nearly drowning in paperwork. Between his voluminous correspondence, drafts of revisions and origional fiction, Lovecraft was nearly overwhelmed with paperwork. Additionally the books in his impessive personal library filled shelves of every spare wall and nook. ( Exhibit 214)

Detail of a photograph reportedly taken by Lovecraft's friend Robert Barlow soon after HPL's death. Shown is Lovecraft's writing desk which was set against one of 2 Westward facing Windows in the room which was set up as the writer's study. This same window must have been the one which the ill-fated character, Robert Blake was looking through as THE HAUNTER OF THE DARK was attempting to speed across the night sky towards him. The 'Haunter' had linked minds with Blake and meant to exchange bodies with him when it was struck by a massive lightning bolt. Blake was untouched but died with a look of terror frozen on the face of his corpse! The Haunter of the Dark was the last original story Lovecraft penned. (Exhibit 239)
