A collection of depictions of Canadian Métis resistance leader and founder of the Province of Manitoba Louis Riel, my personal favourite Canadian historical figure. If you haven’t heard of Riel I highly suggest looking into him and his story, his is considered a “controversial” historical figure by some (White people), but as complex as he was (And he was a very complex person) I view him as a hero along with Gabriel Dumont and all the other indigenous resistance fighters not just in the Red River Rebellion, but all throughout so-called Canada’s history. I highly recommend listening to Indigenous musician Willie Dunn’s song “Louis Riel” and also Dunn’s entire discography while you’re at it!
