I need everyone on that god forsaken show to want Old Man Daniel Molloy as much as I do in S3. I need fangs and hissing and passive aggressive bitchiness over who gets that cookie

[chapter 6]
There’s something I’ve been mulling over about this scene on my latest reread. ☝️
Anne never got around to filling out any of Daniel’s backstory, but I still like to look for little clues here and there that can be used towards my head cannons. So it’s interesting to me that the moment that finally convinces him that the interview is real and that Louis isn’t lying are the words :
“I had laughed at him; I had not believed him; I had not been kind to him. He had fallen because of me.”
And then this is followed with the line describing Daniel, “engaged in some silent inner struggle.”
So I wonder if maybe Daniel wasn’t also carrying around some great guilt over the ruin or death of a loved one?
You know, I love it when Daniel is acidic, when Daniel hits back and throws things back at Louis. I really like it. But when the two of them are in that kind of connection, with that exchange, guys…
I can't explain how much this affects me...
