He continued to dig as he thought about it. Digging helped him think- kept his mind (and claws) sharp. Research was something.. different. Something completely off schedule. And mostly, something felt off about this to him; he wasn’t exactly one to trust those of science. Perhaps he was overthinking this, then again he did that for a lot of situations. He supposed the sooner he agreed to it, the sooner they’d probably leave.
“You have my permission to do your research down here, under my supervision. One wrong move and I’ll have you swimming with the Charflounder.
Understood? Because I’m not repeating myself.”
“Clear as crystal.”
Mona shook her cape a little, readying her supplies, then made a beeline for the nearest block of slime. She gave it an experimental tap, testing the springiness, then sat on it, gingerly, noting how it was firm enough to only depress a little under her weight.
“Surprisingly viscous, despite the heat...” she muttered.
After a moment’s thought, she stooped down, picked up a rock, and tossed it at the gooey green block. The rock bounced sharply off its surface, and soared several feet beyond its initial trajectory.
