Anna x Tom — cape fear
(FanFiction)
𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈'
Anna was asleep on the bed. Her red hair was spread across the pillow, and her breathing was soft and slow. She looked almost serene in her sleep — a stark contrast to how she was when awake. Her forehead and chest were damp with sweat; despite the fan running, the air was stiflingly hot. Beside her, Tom sat watching over his wife as she slept. Holding a damp cloth, he brushed aside a few red strands that had fallen across her face and wiped away the sweat, careful not to wake her. It had been hard for Anna to get a full night's sleep with so much going on around them. In recent days, she hadn't really slept at all; she remained constantly alert and felt unsafe. Tom would stay awake with her during these vigils, often trying to convince her to sleep by assuring her he would stay up to guard her safety. On those nights, she would cling to him, resting her head in his lap and eventually drifting off, feeling momentarily secure.
But tonight, she was sleeping deeply. The ACID she had accidentally consumed in her tea earlier had left her utterly exhausted once the effects began to wear off. She had been somewhat dazed and confused when she first lay down; for the first few hours, she twitched in her sleep, her face contorting as if she were having a nightmare. Tom would hold her close when this happened, kissing her cheek and waiting for her to calm down. He, too, still felt somewhat disoriented from the drug, but he fought against the lingering effects in his own body so he could ensure his wife’s safety and well-being.
Tom still didn't know how the drug had ended up in their drinks, but he felt guilty because, regardless of how it got into the tea, it had been his — part of his own stash. He could have ruined all of Anna’s years of sobriety because of this. He could have harmed they children, too. He would never forgive himself if he were the one to cause her to relapse into alcohol abuse. He knew what she had been through and how hard she had fought to overcome her addiction after Natalie was born.
Anna stirred beside him, pulling him from his thoughts. Gently touching her shoulder, he saw that she was still asleep. He sighed and planted another soft kiss — this time on her damp red hair. He had to ensure that nothing else happened to her or they children. He would make sure of it. He would take care of her, just as he always had; nothing would change now. Because she trusted him to do so — despite his mistakes and his flaws, Anna still trusted him. And he could not let her or her family down.
“Everything is going to be okay” he whispered in her ear as he stroked her hair.
A Lost Scene From Cool Hand Luke
We all know the famous scene in Cool Hand Luke where all the men are working on the side of the road and stop to watch a sexy woman wash her car. During that scene, Dragline stops to put on a battered pair of sunglasses, only to remove them a minute later remarking "damn things is blocking the scenery".
In the original script, just before the car wash scene, there was dialogue setting up those sunglasses, as well as a short scene of another woman passing by in a convertible. The convertible scene didn't make it into the final cut of the movie but, as evidenced by these photos from a contact sheet, the scene was filmed. One can assume the scenes were considered repetitive and that's why the convertible scene was dropped in favor of the car wash scene.
The prisoners swinging their "yo-yos".
------------------------------------------
Dragline "eyeballing" the lady in the car.
Cinematographer Conrad Hall films a closeup of the woman from a tow mount.
The woman passes by, disturbed by the stares from the men.
George Kennedy (Dragline), Paul Newman (Luke), director Stuart Rosenberg (in white jacket), Morgan Woodward (Boss Godfrey), and Harry Dean Stanton (Tramp) discuss the scene.
I wonder if this footage still exists in some vault somewhere at Warner Brothers. Maybe someday they will release it as bonus material.

Ahsoka spoilers ///
The most recent discovery, thanks to atomicmosaic for letting me know about this! He spotted this cel on eBay a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe my eyes...
DELETED SCENE DISCOVERED from season 1's 'VERT-ED-GO' featuring an extra appearance from the little dog that attacked Edd in the next episode, 'READ ALL ABOUT ED'. Apparently this dog would have instead first been introduced here! Looks like it's sniffing and marking the tree immediately after Edd inspected the tree with a stethoscope. Would the dog have attacked Edd here as well? Were there additional deleted scenes containing this nearly lost season 1 character? When will the little season 1 dog finally get his day!?
For old time's sake, some screenshots from the dog's one AIRED appearance from 'READ ALL ABOUT ED':
I love this dang dog.

Lost Line 1 (Ocean’s Heart)
Trying this out! This was written back when Calypso was a bit more one-dimensional, a bit more callous and a little less fond of her mortals.
*****
She gives him her best smile, the one that shows each one of her double-layered sharp teeth.
“You are not dying,” she tells him. Gives him a moment to digest her words past the sea rushing around them and the pounding of his too-quick heart. She adjusts herself on his piece of splintered ship. Plants her chin in her hand to lounge as best she can on the flimsy piece of wood. “You’re very lucky, actually.”
He hacks a spray of salt spit water into the sea. She wrinkles her nose a moment, but doesn’t otherwise react. This is a common occurrence, however nasty one it is. He blinks water and hair from his eyes before he speaks. “Who--” his voice comes out choked and raspy from the abuse of water in his throat “--what are you?”
She tilts her head. Her face softens. This is new. She’s never met a human who didn’t know the word ‘Kraken’. She’s been told that she looks dangerous even in her softer human form and there are only so many things that can pull looking human off while still sending the signal of being a threat. “Don’t you know?”
He shakes his head. His eyes are wide and white-rimmed. Scared? “What’s going on?”
She closes her smile. Feels a sting of irritation -- is she really so forgettable? She thought she put on quite a show. She gestures to where the rest of his ship is floating or sunken. The water is stained pink, still, and there are a few shark fins poking above the waves, lured by the blood. “Your ship sunk,” she tells him. “You are the only crew member still breathing.”
His reaction is palpable. He jerks back and nearly falls into the water, his face twists and lengthens in half measures. It’s amusing to see, his grief. Her appearance could have been prevented, if his captain had a taste for anything but gold, if he didn’t complain every time his crew tried to start a shanty to pass the time.
She is not unfair in what ships she takes. It is not often that she does this, even -- Poseidon calls up riptides and hurricanes on whims of anger. She takes ships for the principle of the matter. If one is going to dare to brave her domain, they better not hold distaste for it. It is tacky, she thinks, to make the ocean a part of one’s life when they do not enjoy the journey or the waters or those who rule them. Her sinking the ship and taking the crew as a meal is a small price.

I thought these could be a fun thing to do. I tend to (aside from tag games) be pretty secretive with what I’m writing though I do also want to share it and this is a nice middle ground, I think. It’s writing and it’s from whatever but it’s old and changed so I don’t have to feel bad if it’s not perfect or if everything in it changes. It’s kind of an update, but... low stress. It might appear in the final thing in some way, but who knows? For now it’s a snippet, something that was taken out.
No tags because... idk. I waffled over it and decided not, but I could change that if you all want. I’m still figuring out how I want all this to work and feedback is awesome/appreciated.
