On our show yesterday we highlighted some favorite rock 🎸🎶 selections from Africa & Latin America: twist, prog, psychedelic & even some baladas ro(ck)mánticas 😍 cuz we have lots of feelings. One song was a 1967 track by Mexican rockers Los Profetas. One of their members was Abraham Laboriel, who went on to become a legendary bass player. As a session musician he has been featured on thousands of recordings with artists like Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Elton John, Dolly Parton, & Michael Jackson. Laboriel's parents were Garifuna immigrants from Honduras, and his siblings Johnny, Ela, & Fanny were also topping the rock charts in the 60s with their own bands (Los Rebeldes del Rock, Fanny y Sus Lollipops) and solo projects.
