#los miserables

The thing is. I saw Los Miserables (the Spanish production, in Madrid). It had a TON of enjoltaire and I could ask Javier Manente (the actor who plays Enjolras) about it.

I asked him how he and Pablo Raya (Grantaire) interpreted and played the relationship between Enjolras and Grantaire.

Sadly, I don't remember the whole interaction/exact words but I wrote down everything I remembered right after. I tried my best to translate it, it was something like this:

"We have received directions from above, and they are basing it/relying on the book. But within that we also have some freedom.

It also depends on how both of us feel that day. Sometimes it's more... (you know?) But sometimes it's less like that. Sometimes he pisses me off so much at the café that I don't even want to see him.

But, you know. The book is pretty explicit about it. And I know the fandom. /Yes, he used the word "fandom".

Me: I mean, the book says it verbatim.

Javier: Of course.

Me: But... Do you think it's mutual?

Javier: (without a doubt) Yes.

Me: Yes????

Javier: Well... Maybe he's too busy for that. I mean, he loves him a lot. But... He's completely focused on the revolution"

So, if we needed more confirmation, here it is. I won't get over it. It's been in my mind since. I'm so glad I asked.

I printed them as stickers for the actors. Mi sister actually made more but they will be at her insta as she doesn't have a Tumblr account. This is the actual Spanish cast.

after valjean tells javert hes gonna get cosette (when the lyrics are over) they go back to fighting, except it looks exactly like it would if they'd been going to make out (think: noels lament)

enjolras starts the abc cafe talking at grantaire far more than anyone else

r&b, during marius's part, grantaire sits down ON ENJOLRAS'S LAP. enjolras looks very happy with this development.

as soon as gavroche comes in scene, grantaire sticks to him

marius and cosette kissing (before marriage *everybody gasps*) in a heart full of love

r looks so proud of gavroche when he calls out javert

combeferre gets shot during the first attack, enjolras shouts his name getting down from the barricade so quick to get to his side, only leaves his side when hes made sure its not fatal

grantaire passing gavroche a bottle, gavroche looking at it curiously, when it looks like gavroche may drink from it r takes it from his hands

gavroche picks up eponine's hat after a little fall of rain and passes it to marius

joly is staying by combeferre's side all the while (since combeferre got shot) and checked his injuries a couple times

grantaire has a full on breakdown during his verses in drink with me

enjolras gets very pissed off and even shoves him

grantaire then goes to the corner to continue his breakdown

gavroche hugs him

when its clear the people arent coming and enjolras tells women and children to leave, grantaire basically forces gavroche to

grantaire gets way too wasted after gavroche is gone

he cannot keep gavroche from going for the bullets because hes too drunk to get there on time

enjolras catches gavroches body, passes it straight to grantaire

grantaire is full on screaming in anguish

stays next to his body even after leaving it on the ground

marius is the first to fall, enjolras gets down from the barricade to check on him

that's when grantaire decides to stand up and go to enjolras's side

exr hug

enjolras is the very first to die on the barricade

grantaire stands in a corner until he's the only one left, being the last to die

later on javert kneels by gavroche's body, doing the cross sign and clearly upset by his death

in empty chairs and empty tables, every ami gets a lit candle that they pick up

gavroche and grantaires candles are right next to each other, they stay together holding hands through it all
