TODAY I DID ONE ABOUT AURIN JOINING THAT I’VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR LIKE SIX MONTHS. Let me know what you guys think! What are your headcanons? I want to read more of them!!!

PROPOSAL

Generally, females initiate the Joining process. They don't ASK the other person if they want to be Joined - if you have to ask, you're doing it wrong. You should know that the other, person wants to be Joined. Instead of "Will you marry me?" they say "I want to be bound to you, body and soul." Often, they present a seedling of some kind but it isn't necessary to do so.

THE CEREMONY Joining ceremonies are held in an outdoor space. The two candidates wear browns and blues, and plant their seedling as a sort of confirmation of the union. The brown represents laying roots.The blue symbolizes the Weave.

REINCARNATION AND JOINING Joining is considered a literal connection of the soul threads. When a soul is reincarnated, their souls are still connected. This allows for the candidates to always be bound, even across time. If both A and B are Joined and then die, reincarnating as C and D, C and D will be more likely to be Joined once they reach the proper age to do so. If C happens to meet E and be Joined to them, then they may also meet D - and C, D, and E have a high chance of being Joined together.

This sort of lends itself to the Aurin thoughts on destiny. The Joining process is directly related to the love destiny of someone.

Adessa’s thoughts on polyamory and why it isn’t as weird as Arthur thinks it is:

OTHER THOUGHTS

Joinings probably take on the aspect of both marriage ceremonies in the event of a biracial marriage. With Mordesh, masks are worn. With humans, jewelry is probably exchanged. With granok, FACE FORM??? Females often initiate the Joining process, but it isn’t unheard of for males to initiate it, especially in the case of marriage ceremonies where the males commonly propose (such as humans).

Anniversaries are celebrated. The couples wear green, signifying healthy growth - and they have the celebration at their seedling/tree.

Joining not only connects souls together, but it also blends the lines between souls. Candidates tend to take on the attributes of their mates post-joining. A person who is good at math may be Joined to someone who isn’t, and the one who isn’t may become better at it as a result. It’s believed that this is because of the Joining Process, but in reality it’s more psychological - the people being Joined start working harder to be like each other because it is widely accepted that they will better each other.
