Koby I say this with so much love in my heart for you. I fear the “being mature for your age” thing may have been influenced by being forcefully made to fend for yourself for a lot of your younger years.
Are you familiar with the idea of “parentification”? I don’t think it’s exactly the same in this situation but similar enough to mention
I know.
I was pretending I didn’t know because it’s uncomfortable for me to face the reality of why I act older than I am, or even really to acknowledge what the people who tell me I’m “mature for my age” actually mean/meant.
It’s easier to just say ‘i don’t know! thats so silly haha!’ and pretend to be ignorant to my own past and experience than to say ‘I’m like this because I experienced several horrific forms of abuse from the age of 14 onwards’.
