I donโt often have the perfectly balanced weekend of study and fun, but this weekend I managed to do it! Yesterday I spent a fun morning with my mom going to open houses for all of these mansions that are for sale (a favorite outing of ours) and then we went shopping at an outdoor mall. Today, we went an awards banquet for my little brother. Heโs a golfer and received an award for best sportsmanship. Iโm so proud of him. At the event, there were a few speakers, including a PGA Pro and his coach. They said some really cool things and gave some great tips for staying motivated in whatever you do in life, whether thatโs practicing a musical instrument or a sport or studying. You canโt base your motivation on others believing in you. You have to believe fully in yourself and your abilities. Have perspective- itโs a privilege to play a sport or dance or play music or go to college. Enjoy it! Carry yourself with the confidence of a pro even when youโre not one yet. A pro wouldnโt give up, make excuses, procrastinate, etc., so you shouldnโt either. If you donโt enjoy the practicing, the studying, and the struggle, then thereโs no point to doing whatever youโre doing. You have to learn to enjoy the downs and work through the lows, not just the highs. Maintain what youโre good at, but donโt waste unnecessary time practicing it because thatโs the easy thing to do. Maintain what youโre good at but practice what youโre bad at. Make a chart about what youโre strong, average, and good at. This chart can be for life or your extracurriculars. For a life chart, maybe your strength is that youโre good at being optimistic, youโre average at staying organized, and youโre bad about procrastination. For a more specific study chart about Chapter 10 of Biology, you might be good at knowing the distinct elements of a cell, average at the differences in RNA and DNA, and bad at knowing the difference between meiosis and mitosis. Then apply the idea of โmaintain what youโre already good at, but practice/study/improve what youโre bad at.โ This chart idea really interested, so I think Iโll make a seperate post with my life chart so you guys have an example of what a chart might look like!ย
I hope these tips encouraged and inspired you as we begin a new week! Start your Monday right!! Listen to your favorite guilty pleasure songs as you get ready. Eat a good breakfast.
