so I've read all the fandom favorites (cure for boredom, TTOBB, a study in winning, electric pink hand grenade, nature and nurture, school for scandal, paradox series, swan triad, bang and clatter, alone on the water, waking you up, to light another's path, saving Sherlock Holmes, two coffees one black, etc) and I'm just looking for something long (+20k), plotty, and fresh that you personally recommend that is perhaps not yet a fandom favorite. thx so much!

There But for the Grace of John Watson (So interesting story behind this: This is one of the first Johnlock fanfics I can remember reading. It may have even been the first… I can’t actually remember though. I can’t remember the fic that probably started the beginning of the end. Anyway, this was definitely one of the first and I remember being super impressed with it then. I have no idea if that impression was correct/what I would feel now, but I’m going to put it in here anyway. I think this crazy-long series is still a WIP, so be wary about that).
Many of these are MATURE READERS for smut, dark themes (I’m looking at the VelvetMace fics), etc.
A bunch of these are just a little bit under 20k, which I hope is okay. I just had to put them in, because I love them so. I can personally recommend all of these. I love some more than others, but they’re all well-worth reading. This request is actually driving me crazy, because I just know I’ve read more than this, and I can’t remember! The dilemma of every fanfic reader. Anyway, enjoy!

I didn’t just take all the longest fics; I tried to look for very long ones that were at least quality (I hate going through 500 words of bad fanfiction, let alone 200,000).
