Goddamn I come back into here after nearly ten years, and I still see a bunch of ppl talking about what you "have" to do, and how you "have" to do things when it comes to practices or interacting with gods and the like.
Personally, I am of a very deep opinion that everyone should be as fully informed about all the ways they can do things, so they can make an equally fully informed decision about how they want to practice. And I feel like I still see a lot of instructions or information that could be unintentionally/unknowingly pretty discriminatory to those who can't, or just don't like to do things very strictly and formerly.
(to be clear there's nothing wrong with doing things that way, but like damn man, can't we let ppl know they won't be held at fckn gun point to do things a little differently, especially first starting out and looking for info on these things so they can decide if they actually want to or not?? π)
Obviously Loki is my main god/patron, but I've been extremely informal with some others too (still respectful and nice ofc bc why wouldn't I be, lol), and very far from the most By The Book witch, and for one thing I've been perfectly fine and safe. And for another, I have never ever personally once felt that any of them didn't like that. So it just kinda really grinds my gears whenever I see people seeing someone talking about how they interact with their god/s, or how they do or don't practice witch craft, and give them shit for it just bc they don't think it's the "proper" way to do it. π I thought the whole point of all this was to NOT be so similar to/behave so much like the modern day Abrahamic "religions" that so many of us escaped from or rejected? Wtf happened to that? Not treating your god/dess like a king or queen doesn't = disrespect, and not feeling drawn to, having the energy for, or having the desire to do certain practices like "clearing the energy" off of something (as a random and simple example), makes someone a bad witch or devotee. π Like goddamn, ain't anyone reading witch hat atelier??? π
So with that all being said, anyone wanna leave their particular experience/methods for how they do things like this with their witchcraft, gods, etc.~? I wanna see more disabled and/or unconventional witches all interacting in one place so not everyone has to go searching for different ways to do the same things as others~ π
And if some want some questions to kinda get the ball rolling:
Do you always request for your deity to come interact with you? Or are you able to just easily slide into it casually off and on freely if and when you feel them around?
Do you treat your deity more like a friendly mutually beneficial dynamic, or are they more like a dear and close friend or even family member?
Do you always speak aloud (assuming you can), for spells? Or do you do something different?
Do you cast protection circles, or do something else as protection? Do you do anything for protection at all, or do your beliefs mean you don't see any need for it?
Do you like to do the typical methods of spellcraft and magical practices, or do you have some that you've never really seen talked about much, if at all, online before?
What do you do with offerings? Do you eat them, do you throw them out, or have fun with disposing of them in some way~?
