Dreamt all the Doomsday characters were in an alleyway, but Sylvie was a lot closer to Doom than the rest. Rachel from Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen was next to her, and so was Loki, but Sylvie started bleeding from her nose and eyes. So much that she died. Everyone was panicked and confused, Loki and Rachel were in bits, and even Doom was startled.
look at what i wrote last year. its a loki au where he flung himself off of thanos' torture and is pre-brainwashed loki avengers 2012 that isn't house broken. where he managed to gather his power to portal himself to the void. this was post thor 1 and bc he wasn't brainwashed by thanos so the chitauri didn't come early but the avengers was a thing bc fury pushed it despite no threat so they're more... acclimated and legal and less fighty with each other.
the metal was cold on his wrist, but it was better than the shackles he had 6 years ago. The interrogation room was cold not that it bothered him but it was unsettling, to be in such cold room and stare at himself in a one way mirror that for sure littered with multiple heroes who are probably interrogating Thor much more discreetly than him because seriously, who wants to anger Asgard's new king? No one, that's for sure. So that's what he did, shut up and not piss off his captors. Something he learned the hard way years ago.
He lived long on Earth, â or Midgard, or Terra, or whatever this place that's filled with humans called â for almost 5 years. As far as everyone was concerned, he was already 21 in Midgardian age. Although he amongst few people knew that his experience was far from 21, but who's counting?
âThor told us that your name is Lokiâ the speakers blared the voice of the doctor, Bruce Banner. âHow come we never got you on our radar?â
âI don't know, doctor. Maybe I just didn't want to be found or your radar is faulty, choose a struggle.â Loki answered before concentrating his seidr flow to his his eyes to catch a glimpse of people behind the glass. âAnd it's William Harvey to you, Loki is way above your pay grade... if you're being paid at all.â
His seidr gave him a second to glimpse on the mirror before the cuffs electrocuted him. Looking at it with a frown he glared at the people on the other side, even if it meant meeting his reflection's eye.
Thor's voice emerged from the speakers, catching him off guard. âBrother, you must come home. Mother and Father will be delighted to see you aliveâ
âI am not your brother, Thor. Fa- Odin had shown you that, haven't he? Congratulations on you coronation by the way I'm sure Odin must've been proud and Frigga will would pester me to go back and i will never be able to say no once you tell her that I'm alive and somehow thriving in this little backwater realm. So please for the love of Norns, don't. I want my peace, I earned it.â Loki rambled, pleading for his peace and freedom once more. He had already long resigned his pride when it came to this, repeating and imagining the words he would say when it comes to the point of reunion, whether accidental or not.
âBut don't you want them to know? By blood, you are not my brother, I have accepted that long before but we had a bond, you had my family and Asgard was your home Loki, atleast try to see that you're allowed to visit.â Thor pleaded, he still had a lot to learn about being a king and begging for Loki to even step foot on Asgard shouldn't be one of them. This is a show of weakness, vulnerability that he shouldn't be parading around this freely.
Loki pierced a look through the mirror remembering where Thor stood, towering over Tony Stark by the controls. He sighed to himself. âThor... Asgard had spat me out long ago. I know your vast amount of power over that realm, seeing that you're King you can easily lift the banishment Odin had placed on me. But be aware that my presence will only cause a commotion in your court and you have to understand that I'm contented here. Believe me that I am happy, I have people who cares. I do not wish to go back, not even to visit.â
He meant every word that came out of his lips, everything was already in place in here. He felt peace, had reflected and agreed with himself that he never needed a throne. Everything was for Odin's affection. He straightened his back, not letting himself feel the weight of his words. The breakdown can wait until he's in the confines of his rune-covered room.
The speakers sounded again, but this time it wasn't Thor's voice.
âLoki-â Tony started.
âWilliamâ He answered with gritted teeth.
âOkay, William. We can go back to the tear-jerking reunion later but now, I- We need answers to all our questions.â
âAbout what?â Loki rested his head on his arms, tired of looking at his own dead and tired expressions on the mirror.
âThor had the courtesy to give us information, that you've been missing for almost six year but your records say that you were only admitted in St. John's Hospital in Arizona 4 years ago.â Tony asked.
Immediately, Loki's head sprung up knowing where this conversation would go. Somewhere he had begged the Gods to make him forget, yet he still remembers every single night as the Gods rejected his pleas. Absentmindedly tracing his finger on the stitch of his light washed jeans where a scar laid underneath.
âThat... that is none of your business.â
âApparently, it is. Seeing that your documents are fake, we would be obligated to transfer you to Thor's care and have Godland measure your punishments.â
Loki's breath hitched in his throat. Panic bubbling in his chest, feeling like a caged mouse, cornered and trapped. He exhaled a ragged breath and tried to regain his composure. âAnything, any questions. Just not that.â
âWe just need to know where you were in the last two years before you came to Earth, your hospital records say that you stayed for almost 5 months. Fractured spine, ripped tendons, hysteria, violent outbursts. That's not even half of it, William.â The softness of Natasha's voice caught him off guard. So that were his injuries, his mother never let him learn about any of it even after his confinement. It irked him that he had to know all about it this way.
âI was in the void.â He answered with coldness in his voice, lying through his teeth hoping to get away with it.
âThe void does that do those things, brother.â Loki clenched his hand at Thor's voice.
âHow do you know, Thor? Have you ever been banished to the void?â He can't help the bitterness that laced in his tone, holding on the last thread of politeness and calmness he had.
âNo, but i know that the void is nothing but silence and darkness. None can ever attempt to hurt you like that.â
âSince you're so smart, then i will tell you what really happened. But don't think for one second that i will start talking in this wretched cell because I swear to the nine realms that i have every capacity to thrash this place and turn it into nothing but a steel ball.â
Honestly still feels so surreal that I've managed to get so far with my fanfic already in just seven months including hiatus.
Like tf am I made of? Like actually insane.
Chapter 16 is about a third done and it's gonna be a bit longer again, I'll try to get it done by the end of the week though. I have several hours to fill rn anyways... :3

Stairway to⌠Paradise? [Loki x GN!Reader] - Part One
Summary: Paradise⌠Itâs not exactly what either of you had imagined. And you certainly didnât imagine that your soulmate was apparently the God of Mischief. But alas, here you are⌠Stuck in the afterlife with Loki for eternity⌠But of course, Loki has something to say about that. He always does it seems. (GN!Reader. Inspired by âThe Good Placeâ, Loki series AU, rom-com/sit-com vibes, half serious and half comedy. Enemies to friends to lovers/reluctant allies vibes, character focused. Set after âInfinity Warâ.)
Word Count: 4K // Rating: PG
Warnings: mentions of death/the afterlife, not explicitly involving religion though, just implied/left ambiguous, use of âParadiseâ more than anything else. Language! Reader is probably a little neurodivergent coded because Iâm neurodivergent lol.
A/N: I donât know what is happening. Maybe Iâve lost the plot finally, but this idea came to me and I couldnât not indulge. There will be multiple parts but it will not be a full fic because my brain canât handle that right now. Iâve really felt my skills regress so⌠trying my best!
PART TWO
âWelcome to Paradise!â
âWhat?â
âYou made it!â
âIâm sorry, Iâm not followingââ
âHeaven! Sort of.â
âHeavenâŚ?â
Lokiâs brows furrowed in confusion as he glanced away from the man before him, his eyes flickering around the rather retro looking office. It certainly didnât look like heaven.
âI know what youâre thinking.â The grey haired man who sat across Loki at his desk leaned forwards, resting his elbows on the dark oak surface. âThis doesnât look like heaven.â The man chuckled slightly, raising a brow. âUnfortunately, there is still paperwork and all that jazz to file before you can pop on through.â His head turned in the direction of the door, nodding towards it.
âPaperwork?â Loki scoffed, frowning. âIn the afterlife?â His question hung in the air for a second, scepticism evident in his tone.
âIâm afraid so.â The stranger sighed. âMuch to my own annoyance.â He added sardonically, reaching for the file before him on the desk. Lokiâs face was the picture of bewilderment, utter confusion and disbelief, as he blinked.
âIâm sorry, Iâm having a hard time understanding.â Loki said lowly, shifting in his seat, his hands moving to rest on the arms of the wooden chair. His eyes lowered, taking note of his attire. It was no longer his the leathers he had been wearing on the Statesman⌠Now he sat in an Asgardian tunic - well, what he presumed was Asgardian⌠At least in its detailing. It was essentially loungewear on Asgard. Asgard⌠His people⌠His brother⌠Thanos.
âThorâ Where is he?â The question left his lips before he could stop it, his expression shifting into worry. Shaking his head, he pushed himself to his feet. âI need to get backââ
âAh⌠Iâm afraid that isnât possible.â Loki paused, his eyes shooting back to the man behind the desk who gave a sympathetic, solemn smile. âOnce you are dead, you canât return to the living.â
âBut Iâm not dead.â Loki huffed.
âOh, youâre dead alright.â The grey haired man reached for a device that Loki didnât recognise, watching as he flipped open the cover, pressing the screen with a few beeps before an image projected itself from it. âThe ship exploded. Thor escaped⌠Sort of. Either way, heâs alive.â The man explained, the holographic image between them showing the ship imploding from the damage of Thanos and his ship, flames flickering violently⌠Loki felt a breath leave him as he slowly sunk back down into his seat, eyes fixed on the sight before him. But if he was deadâŚ
âThis isnât Valhalla.â Loki stated, watching as the hologram dissipated, fading away⌠Just like his life it seemed. âHeaven⌠Thatâs a mortal belief. Midgardianââ He continued, his frown once again returning. âIâm a God. I died in battleâ I shouldnât be here.â
âNo?â The man in the brown suit tilted his head.
âAbsolutely not.â Loki almost squawked, offended by even the thought that he was to be regarded in the same breath as deceased mortals. âI want to speak to whoever is behind this farce!â He narrowed his eyes, folding his arms over his chest. âSomeone has made a grave mistake.â
âWell, firstly, I said it was Paradise, not exactly Heaven.â The man smirked. âAnd secondly, as you can imagine, it isnât exactly easy getting ahold of the big guy.â He huffed wryly. âWe donât make mistakes here, Loki.â He shook his head, sighing as he leaned back in his seat. âHowever, you may reject your application.â He shrugged. âBut it will mean you are dead, dead. You will cease to exist. Bye-bye God of Mischief.â Loki paused, tensing slightly at the manâs words. âBut if that is really what you wantâŚâ The man sighed, reaching for the stamp press that sat on his desk⌠The stamp press that said âREJECTEDââŚ
âN-now, hang onâ Waitâ Wait!â Loki practically leaned fully off of his chair, a hand outstretched in a âstopâ gesture as the man opposite him paused, raising a brow. âIâll stay.â He quickly added, nodding as he cleared his throat quietly, watching as the man slowly began to retreat from the stamp. âIâll⌠give⌠âParadiseâ a try.â
âExcellent!â The man smiled, clapping his hands briefly before he stood from his chair. âI knew youâd see sense.â Lokiâs cautiously followed suit, pushing himself up to stand as he watched the stranger move around his desk. âIâm Mobius, by the way.â He held out his hand, offering it for Loki to shake. The God eyed it, uncertain. âThatâs right. You donât trust easy do you?â Mobius mused, sighing as he lowered his hand. âNo bother. Iâll have to earn it wonât I?â He smirked, his tone light as he turned on his heal to head towards the door. âCome on then, God of Mischief. Let me show you Paradise.â
This is insane. Utterly insane. A bit grim, but⌠We keep moving⌠Otherwise you do believe youâll spiral⌠Look at this place⌠It has flying cars⌠Yet it looks⌠Retro? Futuristic retro? Was that even possible? Apparently so.
ParadiseâŚ
You had to admit, it wasnât exactly what you had imagined. If there was an afterlife, you certainly hadnât expected this. It was essentially a giant city and the main building had âmagic roomsâ - although, you had been assured there was no real magic, just science. That also felt weird to think about⌠Science and the afterlife⌠Huh, who wouldâve thought?
Youâd already checked out the âautomatâ, which you found odd considering it only contained Key lime pie. Sucked for people who hated key lime. Or pie. Really sucked for people who hated both. You kinda assumed that the afterlife would be⌠well, more like⌠Imagining something you wanted and it appearing⌠Which apparently was sort of possible via Miss Minutes - within reason, of course. Youâd gotten the full run down of the place, the tour, the dos and donâts, the harsh reality of the fact your life on the âmortal planeâ was over⌠Bummer.
And now⌠You stood in your new home. It was basically an apartment. It was suited to your tastes, although there were some details had were definitely not yours⌠Which you thought was odd. It didnât even match the futuristic retro style of the rest of the place⌠And not to mention the balcony. It was⌠quite the juxtaposition from the more sleek looking room. It looked regal almost - gold. It was something you wouldâve lively have seen in a palace in some fantasy film. The weirdest part though? There was a sunset. Apparently, it wasnât real. A holographic image of some kind⌠Once again, science.
âKnock, knockââ You jumped slightly at the voice, not even realising youâd left your apartment door open, too busy taking in⌠well, everything. You turned, seeing the familiar face of Mobius. He was the one who had gotten you settled in - okay, maybe not âsettledâ but⌠acquainted to the place. However, he wasnât alone. There was a tall, dark haired man beside him, wearing what appeared to be⌠a tunic? You glanced down at yourself, noting your sweats as you awkwardly moved to try and make it seem like you hadnât magically appeared in this place wearing them and not something a bit nicer.
âHow you doing?â Mobius asked brightly, stepping inside as the man lingered in the doorway, his eyes flittering around your room.
âUhâ Yeah, Iâm⌠doing.â You murmured awkwardly, a little uncertain as Mobius let out a brief, breathy laugh.
âDonât worry. Youâll get used to it.â He assured you lightly, his tone friendly. âYou think you can handle something else?â He added, raising a brow. You paused, pursing your lips.
âM-maybe. Yes. I guess.â You shrugged, nodding faintly making the grey haired man smile slightly.
âAlright, wellâŚâ Mobius took a breath, glancing between you and the man in the doorway. âThis is your roommate.â He gestured to the man, your brows furrowing. The man instantly straightened, his lips parting, a small frown appearing on his own brows. âAnd your soulmate.â
âWhat?!â âI beg your pardon?!â
Well⌠That explained the details in the room that werenât to your taste.
You sat very rigidly on the couch, watching as the man â Loki, you had learnt â paced back and forth before you. He hadnât spoken once. Mobius had dropped that bombshell and then dipped. That seemed to be how things went around here⌠âYouâre dead. This is your life now. Well, not life but you know what I mean. Good luck! See ya!â Your leg bounced, unsure, anxious, nervous⌠Loki didnât seem⌠like someone you would ever be matched with on a dating site let alone in Paradise and as soulmates.
âThere has to be a mistake.â âAll of this is a mistake.â
You both spoke at the same time, a long pause following after.
âHow canââ âYouâre a mortalââ ââthis beââ ââ a dead one at thatââ ââhappening?â ââ absolutely absurd.â
You blinked at his words, processing them a moment later after you both spoke once again at the same time.
âCharming.â You huffed, frowning. âYouâre not exactly alive and kicking either.â You raised a brow, tilting your head slightly as his pacing came to a halt. The God turned to look at you, keeping his distance on the other side of the dark oak coffee table between you. âAnd mortal? What like you arenât?â
âNo, Iâm not.â Loki spoke lowly, almost offended.
âThe opposite of mortal is immortal and youâre dead soâŚâ You trailed off, looking away. Lokiâs jaw tensed slightly, taking a deep breath as he shook his head.
âIâm a God!â He huffed, clearly frustrated, making your gaze dart back to him. âSo, yes whilst I technically may not be completely unkillable, I did survive you by a good thousand years.â He quipped, eyes narrowing. Your lips parted, frown relaxing ever so slightly as you tried to fathom his declaration.
âA God?â You blinked. âLike⌠Thor?â Loki let out another slow breath, closing his eyes briefly.
âYesâ Like Thor.â He muttered, turning away as he faced the wall, his eyes landing on the fireplace that looked very familiar. It was his⌠From his chambers on Asgard. It had all the same details⌠Was this place mocking him?
Whilst Loki was finally taking note of the decor, your own mind quickly began to⌠recollect⌠A God⌠Thor⌠Loki⌠No⌠Notâ He wasnât⌠That Loki⌠Right?
Your eyes widened faintly as you stared intently at the back of the Godâs head, your heartâ Wait, you had a heartbeat? Thatâs⌠weird. Ask questions laterâ Your heart began to beat a little faster with fear. How the hell was he in a place like this?! He was rightâ There must be a mistake. Right?! Slowly, you leant forward, your hand stretching outwards to grab the nearest weapon you could see⌠A magazine. A travel magazine. As if you could simply go there now.
Quietly, you slid it towards you, grasping it in your hand as you began to roll it up. The sound of the glossy paper crumpling made Loki turn slightly, his brows furrowed at the noise, making you react as you rushed to your feet, holding the rolled up magazine in your hand like it was a baseball bat and not just⌠bound together paper. Loki raised a brow, eyeing you up and down, assessing you it seemed.
âIs this a test?â You asked lowly, a slight tremor to your voice. Loki continued to turn, now facing you, the coffee table still safely between you both. âHello?! Angel people?!â You called out, looking up at the ceiling, glancing around. âThereâs a mistake! He is not my roommate, and he is definitely not my soulmate! Heâs a psycho!â
All whilst you shouted to no one, Loki couldnât help but simply fold his arms over his chest, a faint amused smirk tugging at his lips. It was amusing watching mortals panic. They always stumbled about like baby deer, bleating like it would save them. ââPsychoâ is a little strong, donât you think?â He mused, tilting his head.
âNo!â You exclaimed, eyes locking back onto him. âIn my books, a sane person doesnât bring an alien army to another planet for an invasion and try to become their King!â
âMortal history doesnât differ much from my own actionsââ Loki rebutted, his tone - and face - screaming âsmartassâ.
âYeah well, they were psychos too!â
âI fear your use of the term âpsychoâ is far too looseââ
âAnd I fear your morals are a bit too loose!â
Silence fell between you both as you stared at one another, Loki finally letting out a sigh as he unfolded his arms and stepped aside, preparing to move around the coffee table. You acted immediately, throwing the rolled up magazine towards him, the flimsy thing unravelling and simply hitting his arm before it very awkwardly fell on the ground. Loki raised his brows, looking up from the magazine on the floor beside him to meet your wide eyes.
âI can see why you are dead. It appears you have all the survival instincts of a Dodo.â Loki quipped dryly, making you glare at him. Your eyes darted to another magazine on the coffee table - a jet-ski magazine it seemed. You moved quickly, grabbing it as Loki merely sighed and took another step around the coffee table, inching closer to where you were stood in front of the couch.
âYouâre dead too!â You argued, throwing the next magazine at him, watching with deflation as it missed him completely, the God simply leaning out of the way as it slid across the floor behind him. âWhy are there no nearby heavy objects?!â You exclaimed, making Loki let out a brief breathy laugh. The sound only added to your irritation.
âAnd what would you do with said heavy objects?â Lokiâs mused, continuing to slowly stalk towards you. âAs you just stated, Iâm dead.â He gestured towards himself. âAnd so are you. SoâŚâ He held up his hands slightly in a âpeaceâ gesture. âWhy donât we assume that one dead person cannot simply maim another dead person so easily, hm?â You let out a small sound of frustration, knowing he was likely right. You canât kill a dead person. Right?
Throwing your arms in the air in defeat, you let yourself fall back down onto the couch, giving up - for now. Loki smirked, amused by your little outburst. âWell, you certainly wouldnât get into Valhalla with that attitude.â He murmured sardonically. âBut it seems even if you do fight and die in battle, you could end up in this place.â He added, a mutter to himself as he moved to take a seat on the opposite end of the couch, leaving enough room between you for it to feel safe-ish but still tense.
âThis is the worst day ever.â You groaned. âI thought paradise was meant to be fun, not anxiety inducing.â You sighed, dragging a hand down your face. ââWelcome to the land of the dead where weâll try our damn best to make you wish you were alive!ââ
âYouâre rather dramatic, arenât you?â
âSays the drama queen himself.â You muttered dryly, folding your arms over your chest, looking a little bit like a pouting child, keeping your gaze averted.
âHm.â Loki hummed. âPerhaps Iâve finally met my match.â He said sardonically, making you scowl. âCalm yourself. It was a jest.â He quickly added, tone clipped. âAs if I a mere mortal could match me.â
âWell, weâre both dead. So⌠snap.â
âOh yes, forgive me, I forgot that as soon as a God dies, he stops being a God.â Loki drawled sarcastically, making you finally look at him, shooting him a glare. âThere may be a more equal playing field here, but trust me mortal, I am as much a God in death as I was in life.â
âWhatever helps you sleep at night.â You quipped.
Speaking of sleep⌠You slowly glanced over your shoulder, turning slightly to look at the bedroom area in the open plan apartment⌠One bed. Of course, there was one bed. Who was writing this? A rom-com lover? Ridiculous. You were not sharing a bed with him. No way. Lokiâs eyes followed your own, spotting the predicamentâŚ
âYou can take the couch.â
You both said it at the same time, making your heads snap towards one another.
âWhat?!â âI donât think so!â
Sighs.
âWill you stop doing that!â âStop that!â
Not waiting another second, you pushed yourself up, bringing your socked feet up on the couch as you prepared to volt yourself over the back of it and rush to the bed to claim it before he could, you felt a hand grab your bicep, halting you.
âGet off!â You snapped, feeling Loki tug you back as he moved to stand, nearly making you lose your balance. You knew you mustâve looked like absolute children, but you didnât care - That bed was yours. You were in Paradise and you werenât reducing yourself to sleeping on a damn couch. Pivoting yourself, you lunged across the couch to grab his wrist, halting his own attempt to rush to the bed.
âUnhand me, mortal!â He hissed, trying to summon his magic - oh right⌠No magic in Paradise. He let out a sound of annoyance, distracted for a moment as you began to crawl over the back of the couch, still holding his arm for stability. Lokiâs free hand rushed out, grabbing your free wrist as your feet landed on solid ground, his body awkwardly leaning over the couch at an angle to keep you in place. âYou are a child!â
âAnd you are annoying!â
âWhat is wrong with you?â
âMe?! Whatâs wrong with you?!â
You both tried to pry your wrists that were being held hostage away from one another, all whilst you both kept your hands on the otherâs wrists. It never wouldâve worked. It was ridiculous. Is this what happens? You die and regress back to being children?
âAh ha!â You managed to twist your wrist free, a triumphant grin on your face, unaware that Loki had deliberately let you do so as he quickly grasped your other wrist, tightening his grip to make you loosen your hold on him. âOw!â Loki rolled his eyes.
âOh, donât be dramaticââ
At that remark, you quickly smacked his chest, making him blink at the action. It was quick and sharp⌠and it⌠hurt? Well, not hurt exactly, you were rather weak compared to him but still⌠He felt it as if he was⌠well, alive.
âYeah! Exactly!â You bite your tongue from adding âidiotâ. You were already playing with fire. But instead of dropping your wrist, he simply tightened his hold, causing you to finally relent and tug your limb away from his grip with a sharp glare. âAsshole!â
However, before either of you could do or say anything else, a ding sounded through the air, causing you both to turn your heads to gaze upon the holographic â ??? â image of Miss Minutes.
âHowdy yaâll! I picked up on some tension and thought Iâd drop by and check on yaâll to make sure everything is fine and dandy!â Miss Minutes chirped, her tone sickly sweet and far too joyful for your liking in the current moment.
âItâs not!â âEverything is far from âfine and dandyâ!â
You wanted to hit the man. Why did he always have to be the one to speak? Why couldnât he just let you speak on your own?!
âOh shucks.â Miss Minutes sighed, placing her small hands on her⌠Hips⌠If she had any and wasnât a circle. âIâm awfully sorry to hear that. We strive to make your experience in Paradise perfectââ
âI shouldnât even be here!â Loki cut her off, anger and irritation in his words. âAnd I certainly shouldnât be expected to share my quarters with a mortal!â
âYeah, and I shouldnât be expected to share my quarters with a psycho!â You added, folding your arms.
âMy end of the bargain is far worse, I assure you.â Loki scoffed, not bothering to look your way, making your nostrils flare.
âAt least Iâve never killed anyone.â
âAt least I didnât perish in a mundane and mortal way.â WellâŚ
âOh, are we doing this?â You turned to him. Of course, neither of you knew how the other ended up in Paradise, but that didnât matter right now. You were both far too focused on being at one anotherâs throats.
âThis ainât ever happened before with soulmates.â Miss Minutes finally spoke again, breaking the bickering up with her voice as she hummed in confusion. âUsually, itâs sparks from the get go. People are normally happy to meet their soulmates⌠Maybe there has been a mistakeââ
âYes, thank you!â âThatâs what Iâve been saying!â
Asshole.
Miss Minutes frowned.
âIâm afraid if there has been a mistake, then⌠That means maybe you both being here is a mistakeâŚâ Miss Minutes continued, beginning to pace midair. âWhich means that we would have to reject your place here and reformat ourââ
âNow, hang on a minuteââ Loki straightened, his hands moving to his hips. You raised a brow, looking up at him in confusion. âLetâs not be rash, hm?â He let out a short, breathy laugh - one that showed his nerves. âRejecting us is⌠a rather harsh decision, donât you think? It is our first day after all, there are⌠bound to be hiccups.â
âWhat are you doing?â You hissed at him.
âShut up, mortal.â He hissed back.
âYou think you can make it work?â Miss Minutes asked, looking between you both.
âAbsolutely.â Loki nodded. What on earth had him changing his tune? Was this some sort of weird⌠power move? Was he getting off on prodding at you? That would make sense. âFear not, we will⌠survive. And rejection will not be necessary.â
âWell, alrighty then!â Miss Minutes beamed, making you blink. âLet me know if you need anything! Have a glorious day!â And with that, she dinged right out of existence, leaving you both alone once more.
âGlorious.â Loki scoffed under his breath, shaking his head faintly.
âWhat was that?!â You narrowed your eyes, turning to look at him properly. âWe couldâve been rejected and reformatted! Whatever that means!â
âThat was me saving your skin.â Loki stated lowly. âRejecting us means wiping us from existence. It means we will no longer be in âParadiseâ and cease to exist. We would truly be dead.â He explained, his tone snappy. âSo, youâre welcome.â
âSounds nice in comparison to being stuck with you for the rest of eternity!â You huffed, making Loki roll his eyes.
âFine. Why donât I call Miss Minutes back and inform her of your decision to cease existing in this afterlife realm, hm?â He raised a brow, parting his lips as he prepared to make good on his suggestion, but before he could your hand shot out to cover his mouth, preventing him from doing so.
âAlright!â You snapped. âAlright.â A sigh. You could feel Lokiâs smirk behind your hand, and when you dropped it, there it was. Smug and very much slap-able.
âBesides, I donât plan on staying in this place any longer than I have to.â Loki stepped back, moving towards the balcony as your eyes followed him. âNo, I will find a way out of here and take my rightful place in Valhalla.â His tone shifted into determination, of confidence and certainty as his hands clasped behind his back. âThatâs my ending. I deserve it. I am owed it. To rest amongst warriors and Gods.â You took a few steps forward, moving closer to him, a frown on your face.
âThatâs great, really, but how the hell are you going to do that?â You asked doubtfully. âI doubt thereâs an escape door with a big neon sign that says âexit to Valhallaâ above it.â You added sarcastically, hearing Loki release a sharp breath.
âIâm Loki, the God of Mischief.â He stated, turning on his heel to face you. âI will find a way. I always do.â
