This is not a jammy Zin, although the fruit notes are bold. There is plenty of spice and earth here as well. Acquiesce 2018 Picpoul Blanc: This is a lovely, single-varietal rendition of a lesser-known Rhône variety. It’s crisp, delicate, and fresh with vibrant aromas and flavors of green apple, lemon balm, and hints of spring flowers—all framed by racing, mineral-tinged acidity. A real delight in the glass and even better when paired with food; I recently enjoyed it with Greek chicken salad. This Lodi winery only makes white wine (and one rosé) and everything I’ve tasted from them has been top-notch.
