Ravenous locust swarm. The population of an old pear-tree. 1870.

I know she’s a bit hard to see, but here’s a female American Pelecinid Wasp I saw last year! She may be uncharismatic to others but I think she’s beautiful!
Spur throat locust, the stripe pattern on their legs is stunning in my opinion!
Female Common Green Darner dragonfly, I can’t believe she let me hold her like this!
Chestnut Weevil! Absolute sweetheart, kept flying off of me and then landing back on me.
American Dagger Moth caterpillar! Didn’t touch this one, they’re venomous!
Those are all of my pictures of last year’s “creepy crawlies” (aside from the ones I couldn’t ID) I’m very excited for the bugs this year!!
Those are some great creepy crawlies! I think I like the weevil the best- I'm a sucker for a long snoot

Locusts from Kalisz
"Anno 1749: Such a Locust fell a mile from Kalisz, two of which were caught ... this one, when taken in hand, screeched like a bat, and foamed yellow from its mouth, it was all hairy, like velvet, Death on its chest, two hairy legs and squirrel teeth, etc."
