R.I.P ALEXI LAIHO
I have no words to describe the emptiness that I have in my heart.
As some of you know, my name is Rocío, I’m 27 years old and I'm from Argentina. In 2011 I opened this blog dedicated to the band Children of Bodom, mainly because I am a big fan of Alexi Laiho. Since I was little, his music has seen me through good moments and especially through my darkest moments as a teenager. I met very good people from many countries through their music and through this blog but due to a lack of time, since I was working and studying at the same time, I had to leave Tumblr as my blog ate up a lot of time that I didn’t have. Now, I have already graduated, and being a mature person and working as I am, helping to improve people's health in a hospital, I decided to enter this blog again just to give it an end. As a fan, I am completely devastated, I can't believe Alexi Laiho left us so young. He was, is and will always be a great influence on me. He will forever be remembered in my memory. Thank you all for having accompanied me through this blog for so long.
Good bye, Rocio.
LOCAL BANDS THAT MIGHT BE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE
Hi again pixies!!
In today's tumblr post, I'm gonna share several local bands in 60s that might be you haven't heard about it. Most of these bands maybe playing Garage Rock as their bands music genre or they were a cover band.
According to Wikipedia, Garage Rock is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals.
Its name derives from the perception that groups were often made up of young amateurs who rehearsed in the family garage, although many were professional.
The style is characterized by basic chord structures played on electric guitars and other instruments, sometimes distorted through a fuzzbox, as well as often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery.
Now, you do have a clue about this music genre, right? Now I'll show you these 60s local bands.
1. The Tradewinds
Tradewinds at a teen party, October 1966.
The Tradewinds was primarily a junior high group that began playing through Northern Ohio at more teen parties and high schools such as Wooster, Northwestern and Triway.
Tradewinds, April 1966 at YMCA Battle of the Band.
Tradewinds members we know so far are; Jim Waggoner (bass), Tim Taylor (rhythm guitar, vocals), Dave Andreas (drums), John Rhode (lead guitar).
2. The T-Birds
T-Birds, basement party, May 1966.
In the following year in seventh grade, Dave Andreas played the drums, Tim Taylor played rhythm guitar and sang vocals, and James Fox backed up as Rhode played lead guitar in a cover band called THE T-BIRDS.
T-Birds, basement party, April 1965.
The T-Birds members we know so fare are; L-R Tim Taylor (singing), Dave Andreas (drums), Jim Fox (guitar), John Rhode (lead guitar).
Hey! What do you think about this post? Are you still curious about the other bands? Well, I'll make other post about local bands from 60s.
If you want to read about them more, you can check this cool website!
See ya on my next post, Pixies!!
NOTE:
I might be wrong about what kind of music these bands play with. So, you can correct me about this and I'll re-edit it. 60s is the year when Garage Rock is really popular, you can check it on youtube. There is a playlist of 60s garage songs, they're cool!
I made this post to let you know that maybe in your neighbourhood there is a local band who only locals know.
