So... this is not to guilt you for asking, it has indeed been a hot minute since the last chapter, but... I'm working on a lot of things (too many things tbh orz) and it might be a little bit longer before ISOS is updated

I promise it will be though! I want the new chapter as much as you do (bc I often reread my own fic before bed so I can sleep with warm-fuzzies on the brain lol)

Chapter 1: Page 36

y/n who's absolutely enamored with humans, mortality, living life despite it's cruelty. Y/N who would rather suffer (and probably has suffered) a thousand lifetimes of pain, loss, and tragedy if it means they get to connect with humanity for even a brief moment because its a better option to them than watching the world from the outside looking in.

Y/N still loving and cherishing the world despite the countless horrors they've witnessed.

Y/N being drawn to AZ because he weirdly everything they love about humanity and life itself in one sad old man.

Plus the fact of AZ being able to fully understand them. What its like to be immortal and to feel like you don't belong amongst humans even through you live with them day in and out.

It makes my neurons fire.

For real though Anon, I wholeheartedly agree, AZ's similarity to my OC Lobolg is part of why I got so obsessed w him

It's part of why I mashed their action figures together in the first place too haha, Lobolg has such a deep love for mortals but is deeply lonely still, so AZ serves as a semi-human anchor to this little world he's exploring... They relate to each other and help each other at their weakest points, it's so nice wah

I have a quite old fic of them together up on AO3 that I've been meaning to fully rewrite (I've just been so distracted by ISOS that I haven't gotten around to it lol)

But as for a wholly unique being... I wonder about them meeting prior to the events of ZA, some hundreds or thousands of years in the past, and seeing each other changed to such a degree but... still so similar

It might take him a second to recognize you, especially if you only met once, since he'd assume someone like that would've died literal ages ago... but there'd be so many emotions. Joy, wonder, longing, a little bit of worry or fear, depends on if he knew your secret, or whether he was able to bring himself to believe you

I myself don't even imagine me as the Y/N while writing, they're a distinct entity from me that I refuse to nail down a canon design for lol

Granted they're still a human being as I write but... eh

Am I attracted to AZ? hell yeah. Would I kiss him if he were real? Of course. Do I selfship?... no, not really. It's weird I know lmao

Slight tangent, but I have considered writing a distinct fic in the Kaiju!AU with my giant monster chaos god OC Lobolg paired up w AZ... I've written a fic w them together before but 1) it wasn't in this AU and 2) I kinda wanna rewrite it anyway, it's not my fav thing

But like I imagine him in his mortal disguise watching Kaiju!AZ agonize over how much of a "monster" he is and just looking at him like
