Cardinal flower Lobelia cardinalis is so glorious. It's hard to believe it's a wildflower, and not a spiffy cultivar. I'd love to get it growing in other wet areas around the farm, but even though I've collected seed . . . nope. I only ever see it right here.
There is a related plant, great blue lobelia, that has this same intense, showy display in a deep blue later in the month. Cannot get enough of them.
I came across this display arrangement of lobelia and petunas on my way back from a supermarket today. Lovely vibrant colours too!
