~ It had been a long day for the young master and his knight at the Frontera estate,
So when Lloyd decides to take a seat at the grand piano instead of his velvety sofa, Javier was surprised. That feeling inside the knight’s chest swelled as Lloyd pressed a singular key with his finger.
“It’s been a while,” his coarse hands danced around the familiar ivory.
“Since what my lord? Certainly you don’t mean since you’ve sang. That would be catastrophic.”
The brunette shot him a warning glare “I’ll wipe that shit eating grin off your face, Javier. Of course I don’t mean that!”
The taller man couldn’t restrain his laugh. He was a tireless soul, yet somehow Master Lloyd always seemed to find a way to rekindle that fire within him. A passion he never thought could burn for so long even after the wick had crumbled.
“Fine, go ahead and make fun of me you bastard. It won’t stop me from playing.”
And before Javier knew it, he was taking off Lloyd’s coat with a tender urgency. It was a sentiment that didn’t feel like a knight’s obligation, so the young lord knew for sure that he had himself an audience.
Although it had only been an audience of one, it was all he needed.
And oh boy was Javier glad.
Javier was glad he had taunted the young master. He feared that if he hadn’t been such an annoying wreck that he would never have been given the privilege to hear such a beautiful melody. It was familiar, in a sense that it was something he had always been longing for. A sense of peace to keep his troubles at bay, and shield his soul from the minutiae of life.
However, there was one thing missing from the performance. A singer.
And before Lloyd knew it, Javier had supplied the words from a place he dare not enter. A sacred light in a secluded part of his knight’s soul that burned with a secret passion.
Javier had known the lyrics of an empty song and given it a name, a heart, and a piece of his very own soul. It was all Lloyd could ever hope for from Javier, and he only wished that he could continue to protect that special flame within him. So Lloyd could feel that same warmth with every melody he would create, just beneath the tips of his fingers.
All of which were for Javier. No other words needed to be spoken, it was just music for one man.
That was all he ever really needed, anyway.
Musically gifted Lloyd is all I ever needed in life. When he can’t sing so he plays an instrument instead 🌅 (trust me, it’s canon)
