It's been a really slow maintenance period, but we finally got the p.a retuned and delays set appropriately and holy hell, it sounds so good and is so clean and easy to work with.
Like "bypass our lav ring out and put out some DPA 4060 omnis in the room and let it rip full volume with no ring and a fold back 44s on stage" kind of clean and easy to work with.
Obvi I still love our Shure UL4s and don't think they are going anywhere, but the 4060s sound so nice for broadcast and they are so discreet.
Outside of that, I spent a long time organizing and compiling and transcoding walk-ups only to realize that iTunes is still a thing and QLAB happily plays AAC files. Plus we get cross venue coordination between walk ups. So I did that work for nothing. But! It was good!
I am now very tired but the final show album is done since several people asked for it. I made 2 covers cause I am very indecisive so feel free to change to the alternate one if you like it more
when mixing music:
the musicians are going to move your microphones.
they are going to touch the microphone. or move their instrument away from it.
they are going to play softly and off-axis during soundcheck and then they'll blow out the mic during their performance.
they will think that the microphone is magic.
