Luffy's Little
Another series of little readers! I'll be going through all the strawhats over time, and maybe other characters once those are all done! I'm basically going in order of when they show up in the series, so y'all will know who's next in the lineup. I'll keep requests open, but will probably be posting all the strawhats before I write those. Mostly just to get back in the rhythm of writing again.
I'll also be posting the schedule of uploads, so by the time this gets posted, you'll know when I'll be uploading which one!
I hope you guys enjoy the series, and look forward for some little time with the Strawhats!

It was initially an accident for Luffy to find out you were a little. Entirely unplanned, and while he was confused at first…he’s been surprisingly accommodating. You had been together for numerous months, but he seemed to accept the situation relatively well. With a short, “Oh you’re a kid sometimes? That’s fun!” He had instantly begun treating you only slightly differently, and honestly that’s what you needed.
Luffy barely blinked when you called him “Bubba” for the first time, and instead he snickered. “Sometimes I’m Bubba, and sometimes I’m your boyfriend? Hmm kind of confusing. But you’re mine so it’s fine!” He let out a laugh, and your new adventure with him started.
He got selected by the crew to stay behind, and when you were about to leave with the rest of your crew members, he leapt forward and wrapped his arms around you with a whine. “Heeeey that’s not fair! If I gotta stay behind then so do you!” His tone was silly, and you could practically feel him pouting behind you.
The crew mostly laughed, and waved as they set off for the island. It was a peaceful island, and as the crew put it, “He would make it chaotic and ruin our chances of getting the items we need.” Which…pretty much everyone agreed on except Luffy.
But when you stayed on the ship, he bounced up and down as only he could, and grabbed your hand and rushed you to your makeshift “little room.” It had numerous toys, and silly drawings both you and Luffy had made scattered across the walls. He seemed almost more excited than you to rush back to it. With a snicker he covered your eyes.
“Come on! No one is here, it’s perfect for hide and seek!” He was practically overflowing with excitement, and it was entirely infectious. You beamed, brushing his hands off and covering your eyes as you heard him (very loudly) rushing out of the room to find his hiding spot.
You counted…as best as you could with your little mind to 50, before taking your eyes away from your hand to go find your Bubba. In his own way…he always lets you win. Either that, or he really was awful at hiding. As soon as you left the room, you went to the deck and looked around for only a moment. He was stretched out, holding himself up over the door to your little room. It had you laughing and clapping, saying excitedly, “I win!”
He didn’t seem upset by being found so quickly, and jumped down to laugh while spinning you in his arms. “Okay! Your turn!” He said, letting you go to rush back to the room. He counted extremely loudly, and you could hear it even as you tried to look for a good hiding spot.
You didn’t necessarily have a plan, but you did still want to win. Carefully, you wedged between the tangerine plants. While it may be a relatively obvious spot, Luffy wasn’t exactly the most well known when it came to observation skills. He did usually try pretty hard to find you, but the time it took him to find you was always much longer than how long it took you to find him.
When he was done counting, he ran all over the ship, but didn’t give much thought to the plants. He checked places that made you giggle, like the top of Sunny’s head. Clearly he could see you weren’t there, but still decided to check anyway. Typical Luffy behavior. He perked up when he heard you laughing, twisting his head every which way to find out where the laughter was coming from.
The whole time, the both of you had wide smiles on your faces. Being able to be so accepted was something you always wanted, and it seemed like Luffy enjoyed you being little as much as you did. It was fun, to have someone to play childish games with when most of the crew wouldn’t, aside from Chopper and Usopp.
But after a while, you heard him whine, “You’re too good at this.” He let out a groan, but the tone of his voice had you giggling. His head instantly shot up, propelling himself from the deck to right in front of the tangerine plants. “Found you!” He let out, pulling you out from your hiding spot and hugging you close.
“Bubba!” You said excitedly, hugging him back tightly while you giggled. You leaned up to brush your cheek against his. For some reason, he took that as a challenge.
He rubbed his cheek more firmly against yours, playfully pouting as he did so. “No fair! You got a head start!” But he ended up laughing just as much as you did. But he noticed the leaves still coating your clothes. “Hmmm…hold on.” He said, pausing momentarily.
He started plucking the leaves out of your clothes, but paused to tickle you only briefly. “Bubba not fair!” You said, laughing, rather you wanted to or not. It didn’t seem to stop him, but he did avoid any ticklish spots…until he got all the leaves off.
He snickered happily as he tickled your sides, grinning even wider when you’d start to laugh. You playfully tried to push his hands away, but you both knew he wouldn’t. When you were nearly in tears from laughing so much he stopped. With a swift movement, he laid on his back with you cradled on top of him. It was a peaceful moment, and it felt safe to be able to be cuddled with him like this.
He whined when he saw your eyes fluttering closed. “Aw! I don’t want it to be time to sleep yet!” He poked your cheeks, but you could only let out a tired laugh. He pouted, but sighed. “Fine, fine.” Was all he said before standing up, still cradling you to his chest as he carried you towards your little room. A bed was in there, usually where you’d sleep when you were in that headspace.
It was big enough for the both of you…Luffy had made sure of that. He plopped down on the bed, and held you impossibly close to him. You could barely even keep your eyes open, yawning as he let out a soft snicker. “How’d you get so tired?”
Of course, he was much more able to stay awake for longer periods of time. He only slept when he felt like it or really needed to, so a little game of hide and seek wasn’t something that would tire him out easily. Especially not when he was so excited to play with you. But regardless, he knew you needed the sleep even if he didn’t.
You gave a lazy shrug of your shoulders at his question, and heard him saying softly in his usually casual tone.
“Love ya.”
